Just saw the thread, haven't read any of it, but I am going to go out on a limb and predict that in spite of the title, we will get all kinds of posts praising obscure local steakhouses.

Fogodechao is really good, I call it death by meat. They keep bringing it until you say uncle or pop, whichever comes first.

Definitely one of the top five steaks I've ever had was at Cattleman's steakhouse in Fabens TX which is outside of El Paso. Not a chain and I don't think it's got anything to do with the other cattleman's mentioned. They do a fantastic steak though.

Definitely, but if you read through the responses, you'll see that I was right this time.

Never had a bad steak at Outback. Ruth’s Chris is my favorite.

TX roadhouse for the win.

I liked Logan’s also before they shutdown.

Well here's the thing about steak. You can get a bad one and I can get a good one. They haven't found a way to standardize a steer. Oh, they can grade meat but when it comes to flavor, tenderness or how it's cooked, that will all vary. I've had good and not so good steak from Outback, Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn. If you want prime steak, you're not going to a chain to get it.
