I never put up lights ..that was my wife problem.. I did stand some stupid wire deer with lights in the yard two times .. they somehow got bent to hell and never got put out anymore.
Dying while doing something that your wife told you to do would make her feel guilty for the rest of her life. I don't think you have a choice. Tell her that you will probably die and that will haunt her for-everrrr. Its easy for me to say. I was a roofer for several years so I can go up and down ladders and hang off roofs without any concern. Then I quote Proverbs 25:24 at her.
I still have all my ladders and chit from roofing for 15 years
I don’t do chrimmus lights 😃
Only took me 4 years to figure out roofing was a bad choice. I admire your determination, I guess
I also did termite control, and worked for water dept all at same time.
Respites were good.
Couldn’t walk away from the roofing, jobs were guaranteed, wife was a realtor at the time too.I was highly recommended 😃 Good jobs mostly, extremely rare for me work as a sub for a new construction.
I live so far off the road, that the only people who would see them would be the ones that come to see me. I don't go in for that chit anyway, as I am not a "look at my house" kind of person. We have a very close friend, who we think the world of, but she will spend thousands of dollars just so people will tell her that her house and decorating look nice.
So my wife has been after me to get some Christmas lights on the house. At 50 I can say for certain that there is one way I will not die. I will never die after falling trying to put up lights on my roof. So, she had someone come out and give us a quote for putting them up. $2,200!! Are you fricking kidding me? The neighbor’s across the street were put in by the same company and apparently cost $5k. WTF?
I don’t know what I was expecting. But I figured less than $1k. Which was still high, but I might do it if I was in the right mood.
You best quit your whining and be about peter panning your ass up on that roof and laying cable
I thought the quote I got was high, $600. I decided to put up 2 lights. A red bulb on the left of the garage and a green bulb on the right. I can reach them without a ladder.
He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

Yeah, but that's probably just for the first time because you're buying the lights too. We did it, and after the initial time it's only like $650 to put 'em up.
