Total budget?
Including refurbishing... maybe $25k
Cheaper than new I reckon.
I had a 2001 Excursion years ago... they are nice. What would the value of it be after that investment? Maybe half that? Not sure... fair question. I figure if I bought a New truck she would lose at least $25k in 10 years... maybe?

Was there a time that Ford worked with Cummins? Or is my memory failing? Yes... lots of F-650s came with Cummins. I had a 26' F-650 box truck with an Eaton Fuller 6 speed. She could stay in that Cummins power band RPM like a champion. Never had a better drivetrain in my life... for work. Thought so. Are you looking at a used or new tranny? Might check gearstar. My only knowledge is from roadkill who they sponsor. But it seems they make stuff that might fit your pursuit. The Excursion was a cool vehicle. As was the Centurion.

Get a low mileage 3/4 ton Suburban with 6.0. Spend remaining $15k on gas and guns.

Many years ago there was a place in Ogden, or Logan, Ut. that did these conversions. At the time it was around $12 or $14 K, with them supplying the Cummins. With you supplying the engine, I think you should get in under $20 K.....though I may be way off! I considered similar about 20 years ago! memtb
Diesel Brothers? On Discovery. They're from Utah and do that crap.

meh throw a 5 star tune on the gasser and run the piss out of it. . If it dies and you still want the excursion throw a 7.3 or a bulletproofed 6.0 in it.

Consider getting a late series Ford 7.3 diesel from a 2000 to early 2003 F250 or F350. Basically a drop in to a 2003 Excursion which is a 3/4 ton chassis.

Was a place in Great Falls that was known for putting cummins in suburbans. I though that sounded neat as hell till I called and got a price.
Still, better than sinking money in an excursion. At least putting money in a suburban makes sense.

I am very fond of the 12 valves... owned many. In my considered opinion from all that I've owned... at least 25 of them... the 12 valve is the only truck you can own drive for 10 years, use as a normal truck but not abused or neglected and sell for a profit when you are done with it. I am fond of the 7.3 but does not have the cult following of a Cummins nor the durability in my humble opinion. I had a 6.0 in a F-550. It was an absolute Powerhouse of a combination, but when I opened the hood I would break out in cold sweats. It is terrifying how complicated it is to me. On one of my old Dodge trucks I was having weak power. Took 30 minutes to remove all 6 injectors. Another 30 minutes to drive them to a friend who did a pop test for me. $37 for the one bad injector and 30 minutes to reinstall. Low-pressure fuel delivery is the stuff that diesel engine dreams are made of in my opinion.

Cummins is the best small truck diesel hands down . I’d like to take a Ford Super Duty and put a Cummins in it. I believe an 08 and up would be good for a swap

Ballz is not welcome.
Clear enough?
Roy, you are not welcome to comment on my post.
Not because I'm rude or inconsiderate but because you are so exceptionally stupid and have the maturity of a 12 year old girl and contribute absolutely nothing other than to attempt to hijack every post you interject on by making it all about you.
I would not take your advice on how to fill a bucket with water. Do you get it yet I consider you to be a complete and total blithering idiot.
Did I put a sharp enough point on it for you?
