Can you use small rifle primers in pistol cases with no issues?

Thread specifically about this in the Handgun forum. Bottom line is yes, you can.

I've loaded up some .357 and .38 loads with small pistol and small rifle primers and hope to get out this week to chronograph them

I would think the height may present a problem in revolvers

I was worried about that, too, so that's the first thing I checked to be sure.

Using R-P brass for the .357's, Winchester for the .38 Spl and with CCI-400's all primers are flush or slightly below flush.

Small pistol and small rifle are the same height. Large pistol/rifle are not.

^^^^that^^^^

My limited experience suggests a velocity increase of 75 FPS or LESS depending on cartridge and bullet weight.
