Love Bass Pro or hate Bass Pro it's still a true American success story. Being local to the national headquarters and watching it evolve from a rack of crankbaits at the local liquor store for what it is now has been quite a story

I'm with Springcove - Scheels it is.

Excellent point. I should have bought when they were $50 off a few months ago. I do want to get another SL, and they wont get any cheaper now.

Stopped at two different stores today and asked a couple of different guys at the gun counter what their impression was on the buy-out and when they knew. One had not heard until I told him; the other found out this morning in a meeting with managers. Neither were happy and were both aware of the decay within the Cabelas system since that debacle.

That sucks.....

Well look at it in another light....

With Biden and Harris in the White House, we won't have any guns to shoot ammo with anyway and it won't be available anyway...

and what they don't take away via Confiscation.... they will tax it thru the roof were even rich guys won't be able to afford it...

and besides, the democRATS are just doing all of this to turn the keys to our nation over to China anyway....

2024, there will be no America, for Trump to run for a second term for anyway.....

we'll be a third world English speaking country, a vassel state for the Chinese to Control.....

courtesy of the DemocRAT Party....

Yes, now is great time for you to get rid of your extra guns and ammo. You should be buying large sacks of Chinese rice instead.

We used to stop at one on the way to Camp Perry, Ashland I think? They had some deals on reloading supplies that the vendors at Perry couldn't beat.

Ashland is their first store and the largest. They have about six now, all over the North Coast including one nearer Camp Perry.

The local BassPro went out of business years ago. There is a Cabela's but no one I know goes there. I buy almost all my stuff at Fin-Feather-Fur. In the past that's included rifles, shotguns, clothing, and pistols. Now I buy mostly shotgun reloading components. As of two months ago they had what I needed in stock and their price for shot, from what I can tell, is cheaper than in most parts of the country.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

Maybe we should all send a petition in to Bass Pro imploring then to leave Sportsman's as is, just leave it alone and milk profits off of it....

Stopped going to Cabelas along I15 altogether months ago when they let all of their original Gun Library people go. That was the last straw for me; the manager in Lehi had been there since the start and was very knowledgeable.

SW, while not perfect, was IMHO, the best option in Utah as far as the bigger stores go. They were holding their own, if not kicking arse, as far as I could tell in our local market. The sale to BP was more likely due to management and stockholders wanting to take a good profit and run with the $ rather than trying compete for the long term. My selfish side says shame on them, but I did try to support them whole-heartedly after Cabela's demise.

Sheels is "OK" if you like sportswear, bicycles, and Ferris wheel rides I guess. The firearms area in SLC has kind of gone downhill, once again IMHO, since the store opened~8-10 years ago. The Midwestern stores may be a little different but on my last visit to Fargo a few years ago, the Scheels stores there were nothing compared to what I enjoyed there in the early 1990's as far as there emphasis on fishing gear and firearms. The even sold Lund boats!

Gallensons in SLC and Gunnies in Orem are the last links the good old days on the Wasatch Front wrt LGS's.

I admire Johnny Morris as a business man
Like him or not he has built an empire

But Cabelas BP really suck
Sportsmans Warehouse will be the same

SW was pretty good in flagstaff, once they got here. (they had a 3-4 year lag between when they announced and when they finally showed up)

But they were subject to all the same supply and demand stuff. primers, ammo, etc.

half good stuff, half chinese made crap...but what are ya going to do?
