What Primers for W296 44 Mag Loads. #15584240 12/29/20 Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 665 Western New York State J Jomo66 OP Campfire Regular OP Jomo66 Campfire Regular J Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 665 Western New York State I have W296 Powder, Hornady 44 Mag Brass, 240 Gr XTP Bullets. I am confused as to whether I need Large Pistol Primers or Large Magnum Pistol Primers?

Generally LP mags are recommended for best ignition, combined with a heavy crimp

Thoroughly enjoying Alaska since 2001.

I use CCI350 and avoid WLP because the softer cups have cracked on me. Folks who chase absolute accuracy, (and aren't hunting in the cold), prefer a non-magnum primer.
