The late Eva Cassidy had the most pure and expressive voice of any female vocalist I've ever heard.
Will double this.
"Autumn Leaves" by her is amazing. Link help someone?
Anyone that hears her voice and is not moved or get goosebumps has either no heart or skin, or, just doesn't really appreciate music. My circle of friends include many talented musicians/singers and not a one isn't blown away by her voice. We have such discussions fairly regularly.
Not to hijack this thread but IMO the absolute best male singer (not most popular or best entertainer, but best voice) of my (boomer) generation was Art Garfunkel. In his prime, he was sublime (rhyme not intended).
ps Actually, come to think of it, with the range of his voice he could be included as a favorite female vocalist.
Wow, color me impressed. She's got fantastic technique, amazing breath control, can sing for beauty AND power, sometimes at the same time. She's had a lot of classical training and it's paid off. And the band is NOT your usual three chord garage metal band. Really something special all around.

They are basically unheard of in the US. In Europe the headline stadiums. The band is from Finland, singer from Holland and the guy on the pipes and horns and other stuff from Scotland or Ireland (I forget).
