Some would like to hunt the Black Bear to extinction as was done to the California Grizzly, the wolf and other species in the state. And while the population has been brought back slightly from its lows in the 80's and 90's, its nowhere near where it was historically.
Phil Nonsense. 50 years ago it was rare to see a black bear in the wild. Now the woods are crawling with bears. You would know that if you spent time in the woods.

I know some guys in Montana that wished they could trap grizzlies and transplant them in California. It's our State Critter for Pete's Sake............... I wholeheartedly agree................... start the restocking in the San Fernando valley first, along with the Central Valley at Sacramento and the hills around San Francisco.

Fuqk em...Screw em. They banned Bobcat hunting so now I kill everyone I call. Same with Mt Lions and now bears it seems. Blatantly bad laws need to be broken. These fuqking A holes are set on banning hunting one species at a time and if I ever see one of then fuqking California Condors I'll kill it too. Between this chit and up coming anti gun legislation we will all be felons soon so fuqk it...

Here was a local man just out for torture... LinkPhil Did the City of Fontana license the "animal removal specialist". If so, perhaps the issue lies there................... and not with bear hunters hunting the species to extinction. Your story has absolutely NOTHING to do with the issue being discussed here.

Has everything to do with hunters killing just for the hell of it. One of you mentioned Buffalo, that wasn't hunting, it was just killing for the hell of it. I have nothing against hunting, but don't abide by people that just want to kill anything that walks or fly's just for something to do, or something to hang on a wall. We had a man, kids or just plain fools cutting down Joshua Tree's trees last year just for the hell of it. No other reason than it was just there. One of you all had a post a few years back about a couple idiots toppling standing boulders in a national park in Utah... No reason other than they just thought it would make good YouTube news. Just because something is there you don't need to wipe out a species, because its there, Yellowstone found that out with the wolf.

Phil You ignorant wretch, the comparison had nothing to do with killing the buffalo, it was about restoring them to historical numbers that you pointed out with the bears in California. I can't believe a person could be as stupid as you are and still make it to the post office to get your subsistence check, because you obviously are too stupid to have ever earned any money and yet you can still vote. You deserve California and California deserves you.
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

Phil Are you attempting to describe the person in the story you posted a link to as a "hunter". Holy fugg Phil, the man is a supposed wildlife removal specialist, NOT a hunter. Whatever credibility your argument might have, attempting to convey those actions as a "hunter" wantonly killing an animal had ruined it, to the point where you now have little if any credibility left to argue with. The issue being discussed is bear hunting, not shooting coyotes off a golf course at the owners' behest. Not pushing boulders over, not cutting down Joshua trees. Please explain how you've seeming come to believe bear hunting, in light of growing numbers statewide, should be entirely stopped for the benefits of wildlife or the human population of the State. And please use evidence, not stories that have nothing whatsoever to do with the subject at hand.

Phil can stay in his SoCal area or perhaps move to NJ.

Yep, and I seem to recall there's a push to end the hunts there........................again. Maybe some will move across the rivers to NYC and Philly? Especially some of the rich neighborhoods, those rich folks would make a lot of noise if bears are breaking into their Escalades and Beemers to get the candy bar their kid left on the back seat.

So you are not ok with grizzlies being returned to CA? I'm all for Griz being reintroduced to Ca. Some hunters in North Ca claim they have been spotting Griz already. They think the Griz have been migrating on their own from where ever.

I'll be sure to let everyone know if I see one some evening when I go out to close up the chicken Gulag.
It's a long walk even to the NE corner of the State from ID, WY or WA, which I would think are the closest places to have populations.

Maybe from Idaho down through Oregon over the course of many years. I'm in So Cal and a few years back I had to drive to Reno for one of my Wife's shows had a few hours to kill so I went to check out the local Cabela's and over heard a conversation by some local hunters swearing up and down they have spotted Griz right across the border in Ca.
