I've seen the "Old man stay off my turf" behavior before. Only it was on a golf course 30 years ago. Some of my buddies and I worked the late shift and would hit the links after work. We played public courses all around central Ohio. A lot of times we'd run into old guys that played the same course every day. They acted like they owned the place and would try to order others around, or jump in front of us. Of course this behavior got them no where with a bunch of young, full of pizz and vinegar cops. The only difference was that they had a 9 iron in their hand instead of a 3" 12 gauge. I'm sure this old fella felt like he owned the lake. Who knows what makes someone snap. My old Dad was a hot head all his life and would fight with little provocation. He'd hit you with whatever he had in his hand without considering the consequences.
Ron Doesn't this belong in the "All things Golf" thread? We're discussing duck hunting and you go and bring golf into it. Sheesh.

If I were going to shoot someone, I would not wait until I got around them to load my gun. My gun would have been loaded and ready when I got there. Senile old men often do not operate with much logic. And again, it is just a guess. The old buzzard could have been using a 60s vintage 10 ga single shot. He might have had an O/U or S by S.

I really don't understand all the interest . But if you lived in or grew up around Weakley County this is a big story .
Then the misconception that this was a feeble 70 year old man shooting an antique shot gun is wrong . A man who launches his boat , maintains a decoy spread , hunts 40 plus days a year ain't what I call feeble . Probably in better shape than most 40 year olds on the fire.

I've been following this thread for the sole reason that it is an interesting murder mystery and nothing more (well, since it's in the Hunter's Campfire sub-forum, it is nice to also know who thinks who sucks). It amazes me how some, otherwise reasonably intelligent men, assume that things could not have happened as we have been told so far. It's like people assume that all 4 were standing in a ten foot circle, holding their loaded firearms, pointing at each other in a Mexican standoff. O.K., I'll bite. If that is what the situation was, ya, the story as it has been released so far does not seem plausible. However, without any more information than we currently have, everything that has been put forth by the authorities is not only plausible; but, likely. Sheesh. #INVESTESTED 😬 This thread has so many lines in the water of theory and speculation. Someone will hook the truth, as per usual. 🦫 So true Beaver10. We ought to start a pool. But after learning the victim's names were Zach and Chance, I decided they probably had it coming.
Tell that to their parents, brothers, sisters, and loved ones. Both young men were shot in the face with a shotgun. Over a duck. It’s not a sincere comment. Maybe, just maybe you ought to think before you post despicable sh*t.

I carried an old Remington (revelation) A5 clone for several years. And also a Weatherby Centurian gas gun for many years. Neither of them ever jammed on me.
But I was shooting pheasant, rabbit, partridge and quail rather than ducks. Perhaps that is the difference.

I’d put money he had a pump or semi auto Dude was 70 years old. I’m gonna go with a JC Higgins auto with a vari choke... paper hulls Lol!!! Over the last 4 or 5 years I have owned 5 semi shotguns. Inertia guns, gas guns , gas /inertia guns. One of the 1st things I do with em. Fugg off firing em. Run the schit outta em, get em hot as hell. 2 or 3 boxes of shells loading em fast as I can squeeze off the rounds Shouldered and 2 handed at the waist. 0 malfunctions.... Any of em. Old dude was rich and probably had a top notch semi like a Benneli SBE 3 or something. Or a old sentimental semi something or other. Still think it was a total Alien set up......
