Hard situation to be in.
Your probably the central figure of strength in all of this in the family.
BTDT.
When he passes, just cross his hands on his chest, give him a kiss on his forehead and say he is gone. And he had a good life.
Needs ta be one strong person to help others see closure in a way from a lead figure.
That person is you I'm betting.

Best wishes to you and your family members.

Was in that exact same situation in 2015.

Only you know what is right.

I decided to leave nothing on the table.

God bless

I also had a similar situation. Dad was starting to go downhill as I was getting ready for hip replacement. Could only talk to him while in ICU. Was able to visit in the hospital once they put him in a regular room. Hospice was a blessing and he left us in his sleep. We told each other several times we loved him and he responded back. He was able to keep his dignity right to the end.

Very sorry you are living this part of life. Buried my dad three weeks ago. Last words we spoke were I love you and he went in a week long coma. For what its worth I didn't say goodbye either. The last few moments I told him it was okay to go see mom. With my belief that was closure enough.

My relationship with my Father could have been better, but when he passed away I was grateful to have been there, we spoke and it was a healing experience for both of us.
Prayers for him and your family.

Peace to you and your family sir.

My Pop passed away while my brother and I were on an elk hunt in Montana.

He had been fading and I was doubtful about going, but he asked if I could get my money back, the answer was no of course. He said take your hinney out there, you have saved and planned for it, shoot you a big un and if I pass they can put me in the freezer till you get back.

I called him when I got to the bull, I sent the picture that graces my profile. Wife printed it out big and taped it to the wall in his room. He bragged and showed everybody that came in. He slipped away two days out on the return trip, sisters and wife were in the room.

I put a roll of tie wire, a pair of clines, his Eastwing and a roll of duct tape in the coffin with him, patted his tired old body and committed him to the ground next to his wife of 69 years. He missed her so when she died, he was lost, he loved his children and grandkids, but he was never the same. Told me he was going to see Bunt, (his nickname for Mother) the day I stopped by loaded up and headed west and said I was going to Montana. I gave him a hug and told him how much I appreciated him. He held on to me for a minute with those gnarled, twisted hands that had built so much, done so much for me. He told me to get going then, needed to make the first stop before dark, always concerned.

Bless you. It is the way of our world, the only thing we are sure of is that when we take that first breath, we will take a last one. Again, peace to you, and to him!
