Pahrump Nv I forgot all about Zzyxz. Pahrump never seemed strange to me growing up out west. There's In Ko Pah, Tonopah, and a few other "Pah"s around. If not mistaken, it might be a Paiute word for "water" or "spring" or some such.

Chicken and Woodchopper in Alaska. When Wien Air was still flying there was a morning announcement in the FBKS terminal that never failed to crack me up - "Wien Consolidated announces Flight 95 to Chicken, Eagle, and Woodchopper". Very nasal-voiced lady made it even funnier.
Chicken supposedly got it's name because no-one there could spell Ptarmigan.
Carpio, ND got it's name in pioneer time. No town within many miles of miles with PO, so the railroad parked a car on a siding to use as a post office - hence Car PO.
My favorite sign is on International Airport Rd in Fairbanks. It reads :

Probably some truth in that! And speaking of Chicken, my dad in his work would get around the entire state of AK, he take me with a lot. I was just a kid when he took me to visit a miner with a small claim near Chicken. The old guy made his own clothes out of gunny sacks. He was extremely gross. His shack had his dinner plate nailed to the table so that his dog could lick the plate clean. He was quite the character that my dad thought I should meet. It’s my understanding also that whoever named the town couldn’t agree how to spell ‘Ptarmigan’ so they settled for Chicken.

I was listening to the radio this am and it gave me the idea for this thread.
What are some funny, strange, or just off the wall names of towns in your state. Here in Michigan I can think of 2, Hell and Climax. I know a guy from Hell, Mi, also know a guy that lives in Two Egg, Fl that DD mentioned. I always get a kick out of Climax, Ga which is not far from Cumming, Ga

Colo. also has a Climax.
My home town at one time was called Tootleville. Got renamed to Miltonvale many years ago.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.
