OK, what’s the prognosis for the Texas Senate, anyone know? 18 R - 13 D, is 18 votes enough to carry the day if they can all be had?

As pro-gun Texas is, it’s a bit surprising there isn’t constitutional carry already.
Hope it passes.

TX has some very restrictive laws concerning carrying a firearm. TX is the only state in the Union that makes it a Felony to carry into a place that serves alcohol.

Well gee what do I need a CCW permit for? You don't. It comes with added liability, regulation, and being included on a list. that's how I have always felt about it if I need to carry a gun I will.

Surprisingly there were two good Democrat amendments included that were passed overwhelmingly. One amendment would expunge previous unlicensed carry convictions (passed unanimously) and the other would prevent the police from harassing people for merely having a gun (only two people voted against it).

TX has some very restrictive laws concerning carrying a firearm. TX is the only state in the Union that makes it a Felony to carry into a place that serves alcohol. that 50% or more of their sales is from serving alcohol, consumed on premises. Basically bars and maybe breweries.

The bill passed final reading this morning and is headed to the Senate. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (a Republican) is nominally opposed to this, so CALL your Texas state senator and lean on him to go against any roadblocks from the Lt. Gov.

Sent Dan Patrick an e-mail too. Or just call. (512) 463-0001

This would be a great step if it makes it. I predict a decrease in crime if it does, not an increase like the libs would like us to believe

Basically bars and maybe breweries. Yep. Most restaurants that serve alcohol don’t meet that requirement. Doesn’t affect me, though, since I don’t frequent bars or breweries. Never been to a Restaurant in TX that I couldn’t carry in. I taught the TX CHL Course for 25 years. Finally gave up my Instructor’s License a few years ago. I’m all for Constitutional Carry. Hope it finally passes here in TX. If it does, I’m not going to give up my TX LTC, though, as we have Reciprocal Agreements with 40 states. Still great for travel.

I've never got my Texas CHL/LTC, I got mine from Arizona because Texas was $140 freaking dollars a few years ago and Ariz. was only $60

Ha! I remember when almost all High School boys had a gun rack in the back window with 2 firearms seated in it. We parked our trucks there and left the windows down in the summer with no worries! Damn! I miss those days in Texas! sure did, drunk beer in the parking lot during lunch. Yep. The Good Ole Days, Roger. My nephews still don’t believe me when I tell them that. I had my Model 94 30-30 and a Ithaca M-37 12 ga Riot gun on the gun rack of the old pickup I drove in HS. 🤠
