Grey fox can run 42 mph. That's bookin' right along.
they're thieves also, and like car keys and koozies.
That's why they make traps and guns
not going to be shooting guns in my house lol.

Well, it was a small mature western desert fox that lived in a hold in the ground. It was either a kit or swift. I dont know how to tell the difference but ive killed many greys.

No expert here, but, dad trapped red and grays in western Oregon back in the day. Reds come in a variety of different types. He got some dandy individuals of cross and silver types.

Greys can climb trees too. I’ve never seen them do it but I’ve read they can.
I see them in the scrublands or foothills in CA.
Greys are the most primitive of the canids, it's why they are more cat-like.

I told my daughter the story and she said that she's seen reds several times in her mom's neighborhood here in EP and she has heard them make that screaming/bark sound.

In all my years in the outdoors, I've never heard a fox make a sound and I've seen quite a few. We're probably some of the the few people around that have ever heard a fox make a noise like that.
.
We have a red fox in the neighborhood that I'm convinced intentionally gets all the local dogs going late at night. He runs around the neighborhood barking just like this, but hundreds of times over the course of a few hours.
