Used or a new one on something like GB or GA is the only way anyone's going to find a Colt right now.

RGK, I just saw some of your pieces in the Gun Porn thread plus what you have here... you got some nice ones. Great taste.
I always enjoy what Real Hawkeye posts up too.

Go to Buds and order yourself a mid 1960s production Colt Government Model like mine. Make sure to ask for the optional real elephant ivory grips. Perfect!! Demands a real nice holster.
Gun Shows are almost as comical as boat ramps in the Spring.

Speaking of holsters. God had something to do with the same holster fitting 1911's and the Browning Hi Power. JB was just the messenger.

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Thanks. It's also a great shooter, and completely reliable, even with modern defensive ammo.

MM I posted one above that my LGS has and they have several more.

Needs to be new and you're right about the auction's being the only place to find one.

MM I posted one above that my LGS has and they have several more. I missed that & it's a nice piece at a fair price, but it's not new & that site is not dramatically different than GB. If the OP wants a nice gun, they should jump on that & the price is fair. MM

completely reliable, even with modern defensive ammo. If that's a '60's vintage gun, it probably does not have a throated barrel, but at any rate, today's SD ammo, like Federal HST's & Speer Gold Dots feed much better than the SD ammo of that period................by a whole lot. Even better than most SD ammo from 15-20 years ago. Try feeding Super Vel (the original high performance SD ammo) in a non-throated barrel for example. MM

Ed I checked their inventory and didn't find any new. Their web page only shows their 50 most recent arrivals. I'd call them.

If I were buying new and wanted just one Colt 1911, I'd pick a new series 70 Colt National Match Gold Cup. Excellent adjustable sights, no FPS, decent triggers (usually) out of the box. I'd have my bud Justin McMillan tune the trigger (4 lbs), add a snug bushing and I'd be happy. Colt is making probably the best 1911s ever now. Bob
