I was once a UAW member in the late sixties through the early 70's before & after my military service. Even back around 1972 some of the old timers I worked with were making comments like "This union ain't what it used to be". I know a lot of their own members don't approve of the way it's run and I can't understand some of the stuff they do and some of the people they endorse. It's not just the UAW either; a lot of our unions seem to be run by commie socialists. WTF?

The unions protect non-productive workers and make it even more cost prohibitive to do business in this country. Then they both blame industry for moving out of the country while the consumers want inexpensive stuff. Cant have it both ways.

Drove by the GM plant in Guanajato/Silao (not sure which city it technically was). GM 1/2 ton trucks as far as you could see. Had to be 1000s of them. Being loaded on rail cars. What I’m saying isn’t really a surprise, we all know it. Just different when you see it. I think the Average wage around there was $3/hour or so and they were happy to get it.

I remember one thing the mexicans were building was wiring harnesses for the then current American air force fighter jets Many of the factories had a complete city of sorts with housing and all the facilities for the workers.
