My Dad, who hasn't driven in some years, is the original owner of a 1979 Lincoln Town Car with approximately 78,000 miles. Pretty much loaded, gold with gold velour interior, garaged, original. Up until about three years ago I would drive it when in town but finally it quit running and we couldn't find anyone who knew how to get it running again. Electrical problems, we believe.

What's the best way to sell such a vehicle? When I say "best", I mean how to produce the most money for the least amount of work/expenditure? The amount of interest this car generated when I would drive it was shocking; surely someone would really like to get their hands on it, get it running and show it off. But who and how?

All ideas are welcomed.

Thanks, RS

Doesn't run.

I'd try the local good ole' boy mechanic to get it running then look online at the prices $20-$35K and go that route

Probably can't sell it. So you should just give it to Me to fix. Where are you located. Should be simple on a 79

LOL

I’d seriously look into getting it running first. Not running it’s just an ol piece of chit that don’t work. Running you can try to sell it as that low miles, one owner, garage kept classic that you deceived it as.

Craigslist or take it to a local car show and put a for sale sign on it. It would most definitely be worth your while to get it running first. It'll be something simple.

Rose colored glasses. By '76 the 460 Ford was a low powered boat anchor.

Spot-on. Smog-motor. Same with the 454. Most vehicles nowadays would smoke them.
