Im not a Buffalo Trace nor a Weller Special Reserve (SR) fan. Evan WIlliams Single Barrel is better than it's price. If you are a Buffalo Trace Distillery fan try the Benchmark Single Barrel, $20-$22, much better than Weller SR. I prefer Willet Family Reserve Rye however their Johnny Drum ~$26-$30 is also outstanding.

I like the Col. EH Taylor small batch (40 bucks a 5th) but I fear it's gone the way of the illusive Pappy Van Winkle.

I had Russel Reserve 10yo with a touch of lemon on ice tonight. ...
I thought I felt a disturbance in the Force. Ya, ya, ya.... drink it the way you like it. The Reserve is too sweet for my liking neat. So I added a few drops of fresh squeezed lemon juice, did wonders.

I don’t like it. At all. I’d rather drink Bulleit. I'll drink BT, but IMO it is far inferior to Bulleit. I'd say Bulleit is a bit better than Wild Turkey 101, which is my go-to and is usually $32 (but for the 1.75l jug). Usually BT is $26 and Bulleit is a bit more but that's in about half the quantity of WT. Where are you buying handles of WT 101 for $32? A fifth is $23-$25 in NC/TN.

A handle around here is 32-33 for WT. I typically buy maker mark handles for 39. They are both regulars in the cabinet.

That's the typical price you pay at a Sam's Club in the mid-south.

--- ducks for cover -------- I have had what I consider great moonshine twice. It is not exactly all over the place in South Dakota.

Again for folks whose taste runs along mine, It’s a shame that this once very affordable drink will be reserved more for special occasions. At least in my house.
