Who out there likes it? Any good recipes you want to share? I love it but no one else in the family is crazy about it. We use to make it on camping trips a lot. Fill a large cast iron skillet with the stuff and when it’s about ready we would depress divots in it and then crack an egg into each divot and then put a lid on. The moisture would poach the egg and then you just took a spatula and dug out a hunk complete with egg in place.

I never made any from scratch but I sure love the stuff that comes in a can. Corned beef hash was also one of my favorite MRE meals when I was in the Army only taking backseat to the western omelette or ham slice meals. The last time my youngest son and I went camping, that was our supper and I’ve enjoyed a few cans since. Sometimes if all the boys are gone, my wife will fix a can of it for supper with peas and macaroni & cheese on the side. Tabasco or Franks only makes it better. Good eating!

Know fat, know flavor. No fat, no flavor.
I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

I’m a big fan of corned beef hash. More often that not, people’s self touted homemade version is disappointing, so I’m more than happy with canned.

Simmer the beef slowly, boil potatoes separately
After the beef cools, slick thick, run potatoes, and beef through a grinder, with raw onions..
Mix all together with a white sauce.
White sauce, melt butter, stir in milk, and flour.
Bake at 350 for an hour. Bob's your uncle.

Sounds good, what’s the ratio of beef to potatoes. Also I might have to add some green peppers. The white sauce is the milk, butter and flour combo correct?

Jim, I'd say, half, and half.
Yes, the sauce is the butter, milk, and flour.

I like a coarse cube to the CB, red and yellow pepper and maybe a Poblano or Anaheim pepper thrown in. Potatoes cube too, but smaller than everything else. Cast iron or carbon steel pan with some high quality fat until everything is browned. Couple of over easy cackle berrys over the top. And lots of black pepper.

I have had the canned hash.... mostly it has gone to the dog.... I think it is just terrible... If you ever get a chance.... you need to try Nueske's Corned beef hash... Oh MY...... it is good. I buy it in the store, so it is not so pricy compared to the mail order. www.nueskes.com/gourmet-corned-beef-hash

Hated hash untill we made our own. Wife will eat the canned(dogfood).
Leftover beef. Doesn't really have to be corned. Leftover (baked are best) potatoes.
Oil, fresh garlic, chopped onions in cast iron. Add taters, then meat. Get it nice and brown.
Ratios are up to you, and availability.
This is breakfast from leftovers. Old fashioned poor people food using what ya got. Not rocket surgery.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Make hash with leftover grilled fish. A great substitute.

Fresh or canned dont care. Its all good with eggs over easy biscuits and gravy.
