Well, if the purpose of religion is to give people a moral core, Mormonism isn't much different from other established religions or sects. The lessons mostly take, but for some, no amount of teaching can help.
I've been around Mormons my whole life, they're "different" in subtle ways, but on balance pretty decent. I've got enough good Mormon friends that I've been to a number of LDS services around the West and enjoyed the services and the socializing. But there's a wall of separation, gentiles don't get in the inner circle. But that's true with any religious order, I think. Overall, there's good Mormons, bad Mormons and jack Mormons. Take your pick, I guess.

Precisely as Dave says in my experience.
The desert is a true treasure for him who seeks refuge from men and the evil of men. In it is contentment In it is death and all you seek (Quoted from "The Bleeding of the Stone" Ibrahim Al-Koni)

Mormonism is very much an American version of Islam. Very similar in how the religions were formed, and how its adherents are to behave.
Mormonism is NOT Christian. Simply put. No matter how the Mormon tries to reword his beliefs to make him sound Christian. There are MANY reasons that Mormonism does not qualify as Christianity, I'll just list one. The doctrine of "Eternal Progression". Look that one up. See if it jibes with what God (the only God, not one of many gods of many worlds) says.

Searching for the truth is important to me. So far my most significant enlightenment is learning to recognize what I don't KNOW. So far the old DO Unto Others etc. seems to about cover all societal situations and is the basis for my personal morality.
When I am out in nature I often feel in contact with a reality that doesn't need a name but includes me. Some might call that spirituality because they find titles important.
If you don't know something you can't know you don't know it. What do you mean "feel" ... like chill bumps? I don't see how that is spiritual. This drivel combined with your previous posts put you in the running w/ crappy hamper for the idiot of the day award. The dumbest are always the loudest, keep screeching kids. mike r

Dated a Mormon girl once. Horny little thing.
She fell down bumped her head later in life and is now some kind of Savant.
Smells colors and sees sounds.

Still, as a Utahn with significant Mormon heritage in the lineage and most family members true believers I have a tough time reconciling Mormon teachings with the Bible. Oh, and the extinction of those Quakers that inhabit the prophets Joseph Smith and Brigham Young talked about really disappoints me.

Probably so. But no one will be surprised that they're in heaven.

Probably so. But no one will be surprised that they're in heaven. The fact that you think that speaks volumes. I'm sure there are a number of humble, true Christians that fulfill His word and still wonder if it's enough. I'm sure more than a few will be gratefully surprised when the gates open. You seem to have it all figured out, though..........I'm sure you have an easy pass.

I think the message of Jesus resonates with a lotta people. I think a lotta the messengers of that message are largely what drives many people away from it. Understandably.
Every day on this side of the ground is a win.

I, on the other hand, am quite glad that my sins were nailed to the cross. Grateful that He called my name. No wondering if my "fulfilling His word" is enough... because I know it never will be. If anyone could do "enough", then they wouldn't need Christ.
