One on one, mormons are okay. Try to move into their world though, and it's a giant F*** YOU. That's why I'll never migrate back to southeast Idaho. Utah's not even on the radar.
I’ve heard that some maybe all Mormons believe that a book containing missing books of the Bible was written by a giant salamander or lizard. I have no idea if that’s true or just something that the person relaying it to me thought that Mormons believed.

And they make fun of the dune coons for believing there’s a gaggle of virgins waiting in Valhalla if they blow up a bunch of capitalists…..
Don’t even get me started on the “Saturday is the sabbath” Adventists.
Weeeel...........Technically, it's from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday. Seventh Day Adventists are a more modern western invention that skipped over the details. Thus, that why it's set to the western calendar and clock.
Heaven is on earth. Live like there’s no tomorrow because when you die, it’s over. Lights out. Just like that dead squirrel in the road ran over by a dump truck. Nothing else.

Man. I'm glad I read this.
Imagine what it must’ve been like when Jack would tell bedtime stories to his kids.
Grew up Mormon I have not practiced it for over 40 years Most of the members are good people Some are the most Judgemental people you will ever meet in your life. I stopped practicing because to me being a Hypocrite is the biggest sin of all. You are lying to your self and God.

Mormons have bought up some big Ranches in this part othe country recently. Seem to be hard workers.
Couple weeks ago i made a trip to east TX.
Turn and burn. Mom wanted to see a nephew graduate.
Cuz says Mexicans from Dallas are buying land with cash.
CASH. 2-3 million at a time.
Not here. Here they pool their money and 20 of them move into a 75 year old Rent house. And then buy a used Chevy Suburban that the biggest fattest woman among them drives around. Then half of get on the welfare tit while the men work for cash only concrete jobs.
I never met a Mormon till last year. I did an elk hunt outside of Logan, Utah and all the guides, cooks and camp people were LDS including the ranch owner. Never met a nicer group of people, that is all!

In my AO, they’re the ones at parent night at school, starting businesses and buying houses while the dead beat whites do dope, work 35hrs a week and bitch about the “Messicans taking all the jobs”

If I was starting a multi national conglomerate I'd hire all LDS Hardest working., most honest people I've had the pleasure of disagreeing with their crazy beliefs.
Edited to add...........I wouldn't let deflave a flave mop the floors. And I hire Bristoe to be my CFO

What about proxy baptism. Praying for people who are already dead, trying to pray them into heaven.
Saying chit like so and so aunt edna has prayed and saved more people than Jesus Christ himself?
We don’t pray for the dead. If you didn’t get baptized on earth how do you suggest it happen? Christ was baptized despite being perfect, that says to me how Important it is. It’s also a way for people on earth to engage in a religious effort. People need things to do.

It sounds like you are saying the SDA do not define Sabbath as Sundown to Sundown. Just like the Jewish Shabbat?
The ones I know are some of the most genuinely nice, shirt off their back kinda folks I’ve ever met. Never once asked me to join the church. A guy I consider to be among some of my best friends is Mormon and I’m nearly positive if I needed help with anything, at any time, he’d be there.
I’ve seen him pull over to ask strangers if they needed help with a flat, seen him GIVE rifles to people to get them into hunting, seen him share great hunting locations with other folks who were looking for better odds, and routinely share his fish/game with people who had a bad season and ended up with an empty freezer. Hell, I saw him bring another buddy who fell on some hard times into his house and give him room and board for nearly a year while he got back on his feet without ever asking for a nickel in return.
Say what you will about it, but if it produces folks like that, it can’t be all that bad. I’d damn sure rather have people like that around me than some of the folks out there these days.
1. Yes, John Moses Browning was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as I am now. And, he was my 8th cousin 3 times removed. Really. Of course a relationship that distant probably takes in a million or so people, but it is still kinda fun.
2. Does anybody take seriously most of the nonsense rumors about what we believe? If so, I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. The actual beliefs are easily available at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org
Some members take seriously the church's encouragement to be honest, provide for our families, respectful to others, and to look for ways to help our neighbors. Others, not so much.
Are the beliefs as crazy as you hear, or are people exaggerating the ridiculousness? Magic underwear, god lives on a planet hidden by the moon, blacks can pray themselves white. You hear a lot of scheit, so trying to seperate the fiction from the fact.
Jack,
I hope this answers your questions. You seem like someone who wants to know the truth. I don't want to be unkind to any mormans, but I studied their beliefs and have attempted to lead elders to Christ. I've read large portions of their books and history and can't disprove the statements in this documentary.
If any LDS here takes exception, please note that it's not personal. Just search the KJV Bible and approach this with as open a mind as possible is my hope. If you don't watch it all, please watch 138:00++on. Good night.

I watched clips of that and its the same recycled crap the southern christian religions have tried to say for years. When I was a kid growing up in texas. the assemblies of god and the baptist would have special meetings for the sole purpose of bashing mormons. I personally feel they did this because mormonism was a threat to their own faith. The LDS church does not pay its clergy. the way our church does it leaves people asking, why are we paying for a preacher? religion is a business to many and the LDS church questions that. IMO its the reason these anti mormon videos have been produced.
as a mormon what I have always thought was interesting is ask a baptist what they believe and they can't tell you, ask a methodist they can't tell you either. Ask them what is the difference between a baptist and a methodist and they can't tell you, people choose their church based on weather or not they like the preacher. with mormonism the church is the same there or in hawaii. don't matter where you go, its the same gospel. rather than post anti videos, I think its more productive you explain why your faith is better. Or take issue with certain doctrine. either way a god fearing people will be a free people. I encourage ALL people to belong to a Christian faith. if enough people turn away from god our nation will no longer be free. I fear that has already happened. its more important for us to belong to a faith and practice it than quabble about differences. the truth is about 90% of mormonism is on total agreement with baptists, methodists, etc.

Mormonism is a cult.
There are a lot of differences between Baptists and Methodists. The biggest one is that Baptists, at least Southern Baptists, which are the biggest sect in the division of Christians called Baptists, is that Baptists are Calvinists and Methodists are for lack of a better term, Arminianists. That's possibly an oversimplification but...Baptists essentially believe that once you are saved that is it whereas Methodists believe that once you are saved, you can still be lost. That's a huge difference and many other differences in between the two sects emanate from that one.
Just saw this and sorry I didn't get into it a lot sooner.
I'm a Mormon, and I will answer anyone's sincere PM about ANYTHING that concerns this church.
To start with, please read Denton's post.
And Happy Camper, please excuse me for not watching your "MORMONS EXPOSED" flick. I've wasted a lot of my time disproving crazy crap printed about my church, and they just keep coming out with it.
I've never understood why people who call themselves Christians invest themselves in maliciously tearing down other churches instead of preaching about Christ and trying to live a good life.
And if you're thinking, "Yeah, but did you see what he said about this/that/the other thing? That's proof!"
Think on this - have you ever met someone who was SO persuasive that you nearly went along with what he said, even though he was so full of BS that you could practically smell it?
That's what 99 percent of those anti Mormon articles, books and movies are... exceptionally persuasive people with hate in their hearts. The other 1 percent are sincere explorers of truth that simply don't agree with our views on the trinity, eternal marriage or proxy baptism (and no, we don't "pray" people into heaven - what happens to you after death is what you deserve - the bible says that God the Father is a just God, and that's what I believe)..
Now, like I said, any sincere PM will be answered with the best information I can provide. I won't, however, bible bash with anyone on a public forum and expose my sincere religious beliefs to the harassment possible from a keyboard crusader with nothing better to do with his life than to insult other people with his ignorance.
HC is an ignorant zealot d bag who resides in a tiny ignorant universe, If these" christians " in America want to disparage Mormons might as well suck Obama' s cock. Dumb mother f'rs have zero understanding of history and world politics . It's embarrassing

Denton here provides a good explanation of the positive side of the organization - I think he is accurate - and it mirrors my experieince with many individual LDS folks. It is not the only side.
Great great great grandpa on mother's side was one when he got here in the early 1800's Fought in some kind of mormon battalion during the mexican war ( 1840's?)
Are the beliefs as crazy as you hear, or are people exaggerating the ridiculousness?
After watching the documentary I posted for you, here's the less edited segment of the animated beliefs in a nutshell.
You'll notice that the mormans won't just own it that they are not the least bit in line with biblical Christianity. I've read much of their books they call ANOTHER testement and have seen their strange temple rituals.
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. " Galatians 1 Applies to Moroni bolonie too.
The LDS sacraments cannot save them. It is a perversion of the true gospel. Christ is THE Only way to the Father in heaven. Those sacraments and good deeds are filthy rags in the sight of the true God of heaven.
The typical default is good people, family values or something along those lines. The fact is that they have a different Bible than that of the New Testament. They claim to believe it, and then add other books that contradict it. Doctrines and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, Book of Mormon.
The final conclusion of the Bible says of their books, "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:" Revelation 22
Their teachings contradict the basic teachings of the Bible, but they want to be considered just another evangelical denomination.
The fact is that their good works wont get any of them into heaven any more than anyone else. We aren't saved by our good works.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. " Ephesians 2:8-9
I worked with a mormon for several years. Decent guy. Just basically very reserved. Seemed to have lived a very sheltered life. Made up for it when he got married. Married a woman we worked with. She was a former stripper. And grade A skank stripper at that, with all the habits that come with it. Still scratch my head over that one.

Hey denton--there are several bridges in Brooklyn, which one are you selling? Maybe one of the Mormon fellers here can tell me the name of the "battle" where a whole group of people formed a an Army to wipe out the Mormons. They went to where the Mormons were, winter set in and they were starving and freezing to death. The Mormons came out and saved them, go figure!
Original question was about beliefs, not character or work ethic. Sorry for the confusion?
Mormons also have a type of hierarchy within their ranks that most seem to take fairly serious. It can be very awkward for them professionally because they could be a subordinate at their place of work but the superior for purposes of the church.
In my experience it causes a lot of weird schit to take place.
Are the beliefs as crazy as you hear, or are people exaggerating the ridiculousness? Magic underwear, god lives on a planet hidden by the moon, blacks can pray themselves white. You hear a lot of scheit, so trying to seperate the fiction from the fact.
Joseph Smith was an occultist. The religion's roots had nothing to do with Christianity. His wife would take down his scrying experiences. He used seeing stones as scrying surfaces. It was demonic.
Each person is their own.. and responsible as such.
Love them where they are at.
Some of the best people I have met are Mormon, a few of the Crazy ones were as well.
The one thing I do not agree with - is hating someone that is trying to understand God and Spirituality (for real vs. for show). If you hate a person who is searching out God…. Karma has a way of finding your backside and putting a foot up it hard…. Which is probably right.
If their profession requires specific uniform items that fall under the term underwear they ship them to the big temple in their home state and have them blessed.

Interesting. I did not know that. Sounds utilitarian.
From what I’ve read they believe that Christ was an example of what we are supposed to work to be. I’ve tried to nail it down in discussions but found side stepping when speaking to someone of the Mormon faith about justification. Nearest that I can tell is justification comes down to works in LDS teaching. That alone separates them from historic Christianity.
This religion and JW can be traced back to the area of New York called the burned over district and or the influences of Charles Finney. It’s interesting that most of modern religion in America is influenced by this man.

I’ve known a pile of them. Percentage-wise they are just as likely to be lying, cheating, philandering pieces of shidt as any other demographic. Flip side, just as many are likely to be stand up guys. Nothing special about them except their weird beliefs.

I think the JW movement had more root in Millerism.
Even discounting for surgery, cosmetics, etc., some women just seem to improve with age. Marie is one, certainly high on my list. Much more attractive than when in her younger days, just beautiful..
The Mormon church is reported to be the most wealthy religious organization in the world unless you combine a number of individual Catholic organizations into one. They're said to have in the area of $50 billion. Yet they have an unpaid clergy. Their top leaders, known as the general authority, receive no 'pay' but it's come out that they do receive a 6 figure 'living allowance'.

The Holy Bible has been interpreted, reinterpreted, edited, books added, books subtracted, and reinterpreted again.
Constantine added the Madonna so they could more easily convert worshipers of the Moon Goddess. Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday so they could convert the numerous pagans who already worshiped on Sunday.
It is, was, and always has been about expansion of the congregation and fattening of the coffers.
The LDS church is no different in this regard than any branch descended from that Church established after Christ's death.
And as for creepy rituals? How about them Catholics? The original denomination? How about graven images? How about praying to Mary? No other God before me?
The Mormons ain't so bad! Their doctrine is closer to the intent of the Old and New Testaments than many.
The visions of their founder and his writings are as likely to be actual revelations from God as are any other's.
You know, it might just be you who has made the mistaken interpretations.
I ordinarily avoid relligious discussions on this forum like I would the plague. Maybe I should again. But I will make a couple of comments anyway.
Our first article of faith is that we believe in God the Eternal Father, his son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Another article is, We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. (This often sparks the old grace vs. works debate. We teach that it by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. Not going to debate that here.) Another article of faith says that we believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, and in doing good to all men. As I have said, our real beliefs are readily available at https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org. If what you are being taught about us does not match that, then it is in error.
We do not believe that you can pray your ancestors into heaven. We do believe that certain earthly ordinances are necessary, and we do provide those vicariously for the dead. The deceased person then has the option of accepting that work. It's part of the effort to make sure that everyone who wants the opportunity receives it. Nobody gets left out because of where and when they were born.
We don't have magic underwear. Those who have received the temple endowment do wear special garments as a reminder and emblem of sacred promises we have made to be charitable, faithful to our spouses, and honest in our dealings, etc. It's not so different from other religious emblems, such as the Jewish yamulka or the Catholic clerical collar. The difference is that we wear ours under our street wear.
There is a boatload of anti-Mormon nonsense available. I've read quite a bit of it. It's typically full of distortions, half truths, and outright lies. I suggest that you not waste your time with it, when our true doctrines are so readily available. If you think we're right, you're welcome to join us. If you don't, then we wish you well and will do what we can to help you on your journey.

Probably so. The greater point is that the revivalist movement was not Christian in any way shape or form. Finney denied original sin, justification through Christ and taught a works based Christianity that has permeated almost every denomination in America. The Burned Over District and Finney’s influence were the seedbed for most of the “new Christian denominations” that have plagued Christianity. America has nothing to be proud of in this contribution.
It is, was, and always has been about expansion of the congregation ...
That's the idea. "And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15

Time will tell. None of us getting any younger.
"And Agrippa said to Paul, “In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?” And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am—except for these chains.” Act 26:28-29
A bit disingenuous of you to start a thread with the impression you are wanting to know something, and all you really want is to stir the pot.

I think the JW movement had more root in Millerism.
I'm not going to defend Finney, but the raw truth is that heresy and divergent teachings started right at the very beginning in the first century. This is clear from the Bible itself, the early Church fathers and all of Church history. satan started immediately and has not stopped.

Pretty sure stirring the pot is the purpose of the campfire.
Letting people speak their mind reveals a LOT about their mind. For a person who has the strength to withstand being mentally tossed to and fro it can be informative.
I don't know of many Mormons around here, but they have a church, so there's probably more than I know. Don't care much. Neighbor farm growing up was owned by Mormons, everyone knew it because that was different.
The old man, now probably 80, was a good guy. His kids were decent. Except Charley. Poor bastard is a swindler. Very smart man, mechanically talented, good fabber Can do darn near anything. Except truly fit his unofficial nickname. Honest Charley. Crookedist dude I've ever know. Has started many businesses, lost every single one due to the fact that no one trusts him.
He is a Mormon. But that has nothing to do with anything.
Do you believe God(The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Great I Am) is the original creator and was not preceded by another god before Him.
Based on family experience I know for a fact that there are many fine upstanding Mormons. It is still very important for people to know the hard distinctions between Mormonism and Christianity.

You are thinking of masons not Mormons..
Uhhh no. Elders and whatnot get away with murder (metaphorically) and banging junior members’ wives. And get free work on their houses and whatnot by the church. At least in my experience.

Oh the stories I could tell, Mormon hiding behind their religion to try and save face for being swindlers.. Have a friend who’s dad a Mormon lost everything because his business partner another Mormon decided not to pay the mortgages on their rental properties. The crook Mormon came out smelling like roses because my buds dad didn’t press charges he said the lord will deal with it. 99% of Mormons do not like confrontation.

I can say the same about ‘Christians’. As a matter of fact, one of the most recent is a ‘higher up’ in a local church who took the congregation for a six-digit figure. People suck, regardless of religion.

Can’t say that I have, but the few I’ve known have been good folks.

I’m a Mormon I seen a lot of this 1st hand especially some being judgmental. When I go to church I wear a nice dress shirt, Levi’s, and boots had an older fella come up to me say oh is this Sunday casual. They said it because I wasn’t wearing a suit. Pretty much stopped going after that.. besides I have better things to do on Sunday. Fast Sunday’s are the best, that’s when members go before the congregation if they choose so. Let it all hang out, I wouldn’t bear witness to majority of them lol. Most are stay at home moms who have nothing better to do but gossip.
The Mormons pulling out of the boy scouts due to the Boy Scouts allowing Gay scout leaders killed the Boy Scouts (they declared bankruptcy)
I can’t confirm it but I heard 40+% of boys scouts were Mormon ??? Maybe that was the money side, I don’t know.
But my Mormon friends all said - yep they are done with them.
The church paid for every boy that was elg to participate in the Boy Scouts. If their were 100 boys in a ward the church paid the fee. Even if only 25 of them participated. It was a cash cow for the Boy Scouts. But they went all woke and chit on their biggest supporter.
I think Matthew 7:1 is also relevant. But, you know, frog tea and all.

False. The BSA was admitting girls and agreeing to employ gay scout leaders. The LDS saw where that was heading and said no mas.
Original question was about beliefs, not character or work ethic. Sorry for the confusion?
Might be worth sifting through the comments, then, for those posted by Mormons. You know how this conversation ends 11/10 times. Not saying you aren’t doing that, just saying you’re (obviously) going to get all kinds of stuff from folks who have learned about the Mormons from YouTube videos.
I won’t comment on their beliefs, because I’m not a Mormon and I don’t know.
Heaven is on earth. Live like there’s no tomorrow because when you die, it’s over. Lights out. Just like that dead squirrel in the road ran over by a dump truck. Nothing else.

You are a ph ucking idiot.. that’s what I meant when I said Boy Scouts went all “woke” you are the worse kind of Mormon.. Idaho Mormons and Utah Mormons are by far the worse of the bunch..
Make up a fair proportion of this community, but find a few beliefs a little far out. Once viewed a wedding held in the nearby church parking lot. Seems the bride was not quite holy enough for building access.
Kids and folks seem to have super work ethics and do a great job of taking care of their own.
Everything I know about Mormonism I learned from a single South Park episode and a multi-part podcast from Last Podcast on the Left. So, you might say I'm something of an expert. The history of the Mormon church is pretty wild and interesting for sure. Do they have some crazy beliefs? IMO hell yes...and in that they are like every other religion. There's a reason most people who are religious started in their religion as a child.
If their profession requires specific uniform items that fall under the term underwear they ship them to the big temple in their home state and have them blessed.
Interesting. I did not know that. Sounds utilitarian.
Even discounting for surgery, cosmetics, etc., some women just seem to improve with age. Marie is one, certainly high on my list. Much more attractive than when in her younger days, just beautiful..
The only questionable thing Mormons embrace, that make me think they’re plumb nuts, is having multiple wives.
Why would a dude want to surround himself with a herd of wiminns who are all bleating at the same time about chores, money, sex, and spending quality time together?
Some acquaintances of mine who ranch in Mormon populated areas, were pretty fired up over Bureau of Land Management overreach. They backed off supporting Bunkerville and Malheur standoffs...just because of the Bundy/Mormon connection. There may be a message in their reluctance to be involved, since they detest the BLM heartily.

With the Bundy clan claiming to be the army of Moroni, your acquaintances were wise to stay away.
I’ll take a Mormon any day over a Scientologist or Happy Camper.

You know that Scientologist have a lot in common with your Mormon religion. I can't say that we connect on anything religious, but here's some truth from those who actually went to Mormon source documents from their own founders and various religious texts. FYI, This is what your own religion teaches.

Christ also told us to judge but to do it righteously. "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” (Joh 7:24 ESV)
The context of Mat 7:1 is telling us not to be a hypocrite. "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Mat 7:5 ESV)
Paul was very judgmental when the situation required it.

How much does that cost?
Now that they stopped paying their boyscout dues it probably don't matter.
You, the beaver and the rest of you LDS Mormons can easily listen to strict Mormon doctrines read from your own prophets writings and THEN you have your answer. Then you will know that there's Biblical understanding under that OldHat.

He (Paul) did make it crystal clear that he had no business judging ANYBODY outside of the church. How many times have we seen ‘Christians’ judge non-Christians for not acting like Christians...? Why would a ‘Christian’ expect a non-Christian to act like a Christian...? Why would a Christian be critical and berating to a non-Christian for not acting like a Christian...? Apostle Paul said “what business is it of mine to judge those outside of the church...?” Why would a Christian judge outsiders for not embracing the values of something they’ve never signed up for in the first place...?
This thread, like many concerning religion, makes evident a universal truth.
Stupid people are convinced that belief systems other than their own are false and those believers are condemned to perdition.
Organized religions have nothing to do with spirituality.
mike r
So tell me ... what is spirituality to you?
Something is true. Finding out the truth is THE most important purpose in life.
Searching for the truth is important to me. So far my most significant enlightenment is learning to recognize what I don't KNOW. So far the old DO Unto Others etc. seems to about cover all societal situations and is the basis for my personal morality.
When I am out in nature I often feel in contact with a reality that doesn't need a name but includes me. Some might call that spirituality because they find titles important.

I’m not a Mormon you fugking idiot!!!
You can take it or leave it. You just said you'll take it. "Out of the issues of the heart the mouth speaketh."
I will leave it. I'm very open about where I stand on The Bible as my only rule of faith and doctrine. That includes Genesis to Revelation and stopped in that final chapter. My beliefs, like many Christians here are the basic fundamental teachings that evangelicals and Baptists have believed world wide. If you prefer Joseph Smith's and Brigham Young's teachings over the Biblical, why should we be surprised?
You, the beaver and the rest of you LDS Mormons can easily listen to strict Mormon doctrines read from your own prophets writings and THEN you have your answer. Then you will know that there's Biblical understanding under that OldHat.
HERE they are in YOUR OWN prophet's words:
I’m not a Mormon.
I apologize for that mistake. I read the comments of a bunch of guys getting defensive about LDS and thought we had a group of closet mormons. I don't think you are Mormon after all. Maybe we can reconsider this point that we heard for the past generation about judging. If I am wrong about that, please point it out to me. To answer the charge of being judgemental about certain things pertaining to the Word, I am truly judging by that standard. I am certainly far from perfect, however does God require perfection to judge such matters? I am judged by the same Scriptures that they are, Genesis to Revelation..... Not Genesis to their book of Moroni.
I have spoken on this because I do judge these things. I am commanded many places in the Word of God to judge such as these. I even judge their Angel Moroni with the authority vested in me by I Corinthians 6... "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?"
These are Not LDS. These are believers such as those Paul spoke to 2,000 years before any LDS.
And Galatians 1...
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
That angel is a fallen one that is condemned. The ONLY way condemned humans can be forgiven is to reject teachings of man's achievement/works, (like Mormonism, etc.) and trust the true only begotten Son of God instead.
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.". Said Jesus, John chapter 3 to a religious man of moral reputation of good works.
I have lived behind the Zion curtain for years. The underwear is not secret, nor magic. Not a one can tell you why plural marriage was "the most important tenet" of the religion a bit of a century after it was "no longer practiced". Not a one can really explain exaltation. Just like there isn't a Christian in a thousand that can explain the Trinity.
I have, and had, many mormon employees, even mormon relatives. Most are salt of the earth, decent people. Some are not. One employee ended up with two women pregnant at the same time, and only one was his wife (but not for long.... apparently that whole plural marriage thing actually DID go away!). They are just people, with work horses, show horses, ne'er do wells, welfare queens and crooks in the usual proportions.

If you don't know something you can't know you don't know it.
What do you mean "feel" ... like chill bumps? I don't see how that is spiritual.

People who are outside the church are not accountable to the church, and they are not accountable to the church's standards. The church has no business judging people outside the church. They’re supposed to love others, and stop judging outsiders...as Apostle Paul said..."What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church...?" He didn't expect non-Jesus followers to behave like Jesus followers. He expected Jesus followers to behave like Jesus followers.

Fuggin Euell Gibbons.
He was a Quaker. He said he became a Quaker because it was the only group he could join without pretending to have beliefs that he didn't have, or concealing beliefs that he did have.
Mormonism is a cult, and Joseph Smith was their prophet. In fact, Smith egotistically took his role a step further and claimed to be the “Spirit of Prophecy”.
The Mormons and other long-term cults, or lifestyle cults (Jehovah Witnesses and 7th Day Adventists) have their own embellished biblical writings, their own diet, and their own culture.
These cults operate in opposition to Christian beliefs. Mormons don’t believe Jesus is fully God. Mormons believe in Aryanism, which involves the denial of the deity of Jesus. Jesus was God Himself, not a created son of God. Other cuktic groups (7th Day Adventists) believe that as well. If one of the Godhead is considered inferior to the others, or created by one of them, you don’t have a real Trinity. Jesus is God Almighty in human flesh. John 1:1, 8:58, 10:30
Mormons don’t believe hell is a place of everlasting punishment. (Scripture says it is.)
Some Mormons believe Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.
They believe in 3 levels of heaven: the lowest level is for good Christians outside their church. The middle level is only for baptized members of their church. The top level is for the Mormons that live up the standards of their church. and include things like lifestyle habits (no caffeine, etc), participation in meetings and services, etc. A bishop hands out temple passes, and members can’t participate in temple services without the pass. It is those Mormons who take part in temple services who get the top level of heaven.
Mormonism is completely based on works for salvation, instead of by grace through faith.
On the surface, they are nice, look okay, and act okay. A lot of them probably don’t even realize they’re putting their trust in something that is not real. The deception is powerful and real. Deception works. That’s how cults work.
Well, if the purpose of religion is to give people a moral core, Mormonism isn't much different from other established religions or sects. The lessons mostly take, but for some, no amount of teaching can help.
I've been around Mormons my whole life, they're "different" in subtle ways, but on balance pretty decent. I've got enough good Mormon friends that I've been to a number of LDS services around the West and enjoyed the services and the socializing. But there's a wall of separation, gentiles don't get in the inner circle. But that's true with any religious order, I think. Overall, there's good Mormons, bad Mormons and jack Mormons. Take your pick, I guess.
Mormonism is very much an American version of Islam. Very similar in how the religions were formed, and how its adherents are to behave.
Mormonism is NOT Christian. Simply put. No matter how the Mormon tries to reword his beliefs to make him sound Christian. There are MANY reasons that Mormonism does not qualify as Christianity, I'll just list one. The doctrine of "Eternal Progression". Look that one up. See if it jibes with what God (the only God, not one of many gods of many worlds) says.
If you don't know something you can't know you don't know it.
What do you mean "feel" ... like chill bumps? I don't see how that is spiritual.
This drivel combined with your previous posts put you in the running w/ crappy hamper for the idiot of the day award.

I bet there are (and are gonna be) a lot of surprised folks in hell!

I think being able to become the God of your own world if you’re a Mormon is kinda’ cool. Still, as a Utahn with significant Mormon heritage in the lineage and most family members true believers I have a tough time reconciling Mormon teachings with the Bible. Oh, and the extinction of those Quakers that inhabit the prophets Joseph Smith and Brigham Young talked about really disappoints me.
I bet there are (and are gonna be) a lot of surprised folks in hell!
Probably so. But no one will be surprised that they're in heaven.
The fact that you think that speaks volumes. I'm sure there are a number of humble, true Christians that fulfill His word and still wonder if it's enough. I'm sure more than a few will be gratefully surprised when the gates open. You seem to have it all figured out, though..........I'm sure you have an easy pass.
She fell down bumped her head later in life and is now some kind of Savant.
Smells colors and sees sounds.
Nothing wrong with that..................
I wonder if she is still horny though??
Don't know but her looks sure have changed. I can still see a little of the cute ranch girl I dated in there. Top 5 Summer of my life after HS graduation.
I think the message of Jesus resonates with a lotta people. I think a lotta the messengers of that message are largely what drives many people away from it. Understandably.

I'm sure in your eyes, that's some kind of indictment against me. I, on the other hand, am quite glad that my sins were nailed to the cross. Grateful that He called my name. No wondering if my "fulfilling His word" is enough... because I know it never will be. If anyone could do "enough", then they wouldn't need Christ.

Not so loud, Mr. Foghorn. You’re hurting people’s ears.
I don’t think ‘fear’ has anything to do with it. I think a lotta people are put off by others who come across as judgmental, bigoted, moralistic homophobes who cherry-pick the sins of others as somehow being worse than their own while sitting in a congregation full of fellow sinners Sunday after Sunday after Sunday. If one is prejudiced, or hates, someone else for whatever reason...that's their business. Especially when they're honest enough to admit that that's what it is. At least they're honest about it. Others choose to use the Bible to justify their prejudice and hatred of certain others...hidin' behind the shield of Christianity and doin' the exact opposite of what Jesus Himself would do...and taught.
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed."(Gal 1:8-9 ESV)
I just showed you what Paul said about non Christians. Pagans do what pagans do, but he most definitely called out what pagans did. Christ, Paul, and all the Apostles called out and told non believers they were sinners.

Have heard it said to always ask, what would He do?
I’ve heard that some maybe all Mormons believe that a book containing missing books of the Bible was written by a giant salamander or lizard. I have no idea if that’s true or just something that the person relaying it to me thought that Mormons believed.
And they make fun of the dune coons for believing there’s a gaggle of virgins waiting in Valhalla if they blow up a bunch of capitalists…..

I honestly would like to know what your spiritual beliefs are. I would just like to know if you apply the same level of skepticism to your beliefs as you do to the Bible.

'What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”' (Rom 3:3-4 ESV)
Jesus clearly taught against sin and rejected sin.
I just showed you what Paul said about non Christians.
In the verse you referenced, Paul was talking to the Galatian Christians about the Judaizers, who were a faction of the Jewish Christians. Paul had previously brought the Gospel to the Galatian Christians, and it was warmly received by them. But the Judaizers came along and taught them a distorted Gospel. And some of these Galatian Christians were accepting of it. The distortion was the Judaizers were going to these Gentile Christians and telling them they had to also follow the law of Moses to be right with God. Nobody involved were “non-Christians.”

That’s way different than being judgemental. Jesus Himself didn’t ‘judge’ the Samaritan woman at the well for her sin.

You can say that again. I just read that passage the other day again and Jesus was absolutely right.....of course.
What the false prophets we are discussing have done is to offer a different Jesus who they say is the spirit brother of Lucifer. They say that God was once a man who became a god. They teach a different gospel from a false god and commingled that with the true God of the Bible. That's why its so hard for LDS to get saved.
II Corinthians 4:3,4 "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
Satan is here the false god of this world. This is the luciferian deception we are pointing out.

Actually, he did judge her, but also forgave her when he said "Go they way and sin no more".

It’s called “The Human Condition “.
Agreed. All are sinners. The Bible teaches this. "But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus," (Rom 3:21-24 ESV)
It is important to understand that just because every human is a sinner is no reason to reject Christ.

The current generation of church leaders is losing the conversation with non-Christians. In fact, they’re mostly not even in the conversation anymore. But they continue to absolve themselves of any responsibility for this. Maybe they need to change their approach to the conversation itself, because their current approach to the conversation is making less and less of a difference every day.

Your piety prevents you from seeing, understanding, and following.
Christ also told us to judge but to do it righteously. “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” (Joh 7:24 ESV)The context of Mat 7:1 is telling us not to be a hypocrite. “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Mat 7:5 ESV)Paul was very judgmental when the situation required it.
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed." (Gal 1:8-9 ESV)
So Constantine and all the Bishops of Nicaea went straight to Hell???????
Question: a person lives a life during which he harms no one, is dependent on no one and raises and provides for a family that he raises w/ the same values. That person protects and helps others w/ lesser abilities. That person does not embrace the same belief system as do you. Is that person doomed to a fiery furnace or another form of perdition?

Christ and Paul talked to non believers. That was their purpose. That was their goal. Obviously. Else there would have not been any conversions. Chris's target audience were non Christians. Again, obviously.
What I do is tell people they are sinners like me. The only way to fix this broken condition is to reject false beliefs like Mormonism and come to Christ. This is exactly what Paul, Christ and all the Apostles did.

I think Antlers has a better understanding of the true meaning of Christ’s teachings than 90% of believers. Old hat seems to have trouble seeing the Forrest for all the trees.

I have to wonder if you know as little about the other "cults" you speak of as you know little of the SDA "cult'. Because every word you stated about the SDA is patently false.
Tell us more about the "special diet" of the SDA and the "different culture" of the SDA congregation.
Here is a clue: The only diet required of SDA is the same as demanded by God throughout the Old Testament.
II Corinthians 4:3,4 "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

The western church is dying. The persecuted Church is growing.
People are brought to Christ not through persuasive words or silver tongues. People are brought to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
"And when he[Holy Spirit] comes, he[Holy Spirit] will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:" (Joh 16:8 ESV)

Do you or don’t you believe him when he said:

Why would a ‘Christian’ expect a non-Christian to act like a Christian...? Why would a Christian be critical and berating to a non-Christian for not acting like a Christian...? Apostle Paul said “what business is it of mine to judge those outside of the church...?” Why would a Christian judge outsiders for not embracing the values of something they’ve never signed up for in the first place...?
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed." (Gal 1:8-9 ESV)
So Constantine and all the Bishops of Nicaea went straight to Hell???????
I'm not sure since I don't know their true hearts. I suspect Constantine was a false conversion, but I don't know. I trust God to make the right decision. After all it's not my call. My only job is to speak the truth as commanded by God.
It seems to have much more in common with Catholicism than Islam. But there are many who claim that Catholicism is not Christianity.
Lots of people claim if your belief is not identical to theirs, you are being led by Satan.
Really, if there is only ONE valid belief system, then one has to believe his is the only valid one. To admit otherwise would threaten ones eternal existence.

Do you or don’t you believe him when he said:
“I am the way, the life and the truth. No man goes to the Father except through Me”.
Actually, he did judge her, but also forgave her when he said "Go they way and sin no more".
Jesus said “Go and sin no more” to the woman caught in the very act of adultery...’not’ to the Samaritan woman at the well. He clearly didn’t judge the Samaritan woman at the well, nor did he condemn the woman caught in the very act of adultery either, He even said so.

I believe that Tarquin got his women confused.
He didn’t supposedly come the first time to judge.

My uncle who was like my brother migrated to Idaho in the 90s and ended up in Blackfoot.. Next door neighbor, older Mormon fellow, seemed to be okay.
My first visit, I went up there and stayed a little while. Had my dog with me. Everybody admired my dog, Didi.
One Saturday morning, early, I heard someone knocking on the carport door. I opened it, the neighbor's four-year old grand daughter stood there. Cute as she could be.
"Do you have that dog I saw?"
"Yes," I reply.
"What him name?"
"She's a girl," I respond, "and her name is Didi."
Next question: "Do you drink Coca Cola?"
Now...what was THAT question all about? LOL.
Anyone can spout whatever opinion they like, but that revealed to me that Mormons teach their young at a very young age to screen people. There can only be ONE reason for that.
I've had contact with Mormons practically my entire life. I've known a few who were pretty decent fellows as individuals, one on one. But, to live among them as an outsider---no way. I've seen how "gentiles" are regarded, and none of my contacts have been entirely positive---most of my experiences quite negative in fact. I've even been the subject of religious discrimination at the hands of Mormons. I wish I'd been taping on that particular occasion.
I'd never go among them again looking for a place to be. May as well move into a black neighborhood in Birmingham, Alabama.

Yep. But Paul was not addressing non-believers in the reference to Galatians that you were referring to where you pointedly told me “I just showed you what Paul said about non Christians.”

You speak of ignorance. Try reading it for yourself.
You either believe it and accept it or you don’t . If you don’t then write and live your own version.
Ain’t no skin off anyone else’s ass.
We’ll all be held accountable for what we do and for what we believe or do not believe.
OH, Not for a lack of effort on your part, or others like yourself, trying to persuade people with biblical full nelsons and sweet jiu-jitsu torture techniques. But, unfortunately, you, and others, miss read the audience in the room every time.
People hear a positive message, sometimes by accident, given by someone they can relate to who isn’t even trying to throw the word of God against walls to see what will stick...Their message is their life. How they live it and what they show of themselves to others is what may find an open ear.
Too many, like yourself, want to play the game of “who’s the better Angel” thinking you’ll win the day of words and verse.
Nobody gives two shîts about that....Pay attention to people, life, and try to live free for a change.

I accept and worship Christ with all my heart. I hope you will too.
I find the idea that there is today an integrated Christian " faith and church", which is God's faith and church in the same way there was a true and integrated Christian faith (and church) at the time of Christ, to be quite laughable. At the time of Christ, there was obviously only one church, one faith---one accepted canon of doctrine. Moreover, false doctrines were continually creeping in which the Apostles had to fight against. After the last Apostle died, it all went sideways. In fact, doesn't the Bible teach there will be "prophets and apostles" until we all come to a unity of the faith? Where are the apostles and prophets today when there is such obvious disunity? In fact, almost the whole of Christianity denies even the possibility of revelation post-Bible. There are now over 1500 "Christian churches" and they all teach something different about doctrines allegedly essential for salvation. They actually agree on very little. That emphatically was not the situation at the time of Christ. Moroever, in Christ's time the church had a recognized hierarchy and structure. You didn't get to just go out and start your own religion; you had to be called in the manner Aaron was called. (See Hebrews, I think). Also, where in heck do these modern "Christian" ministers get their authority? From the Bible? That's not how Christ conveyed his authority anciently. For starters, there was no Bible to read! Secondluy, apostles and disciples got their authority by laying on of hands from one who himself had authority received by laying on of hand by another, who had authority. The Catholics have the better of the argument here because they at least claim a direct lineage for authority from Peter. The problem is, their core doctrines are wholly apostate. It seems pretty clear to me that God predicted this (an apostasy, see eg., the Parable of the Son and the Husbandmen). The other thing that is just positively risible (to me at least) is this notion that the "Bible", which was collected and written by Catholic priests with the earliest Greek manuscripts coming into existence hundreds of years after Christ, is somehow the infallible word of God when it is full of contradictions and ambiguities that actually make dissent and divisions likely. You have to be willfully ignorant to believe that. These scrivener priests (who, at the time they collected and transcribed) were themselves members of an arguably apostate church with all kinds of bizarre, non-Biblical doctrines (eg., infant baptism and baptism by "sprinkling") arbitrarily decided which "scriptures" to include in the canon and which not to. Who gave them the authority to do that? Certainly not God. Modern Christianity today has little or no resemblance to its ancient version. The idea that what we see today is a continuation of God's church and doctrine is utterly ridiculous wishful thinking, in my opinion. Yet there is no shortage of bigots who want to denounce Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists and JWs, when the claims of the bigots are no more authoritative than those they mock.
Of course the religious leaders of the developed nations are losing the interest of the young. Even the young who were raised in The Church.
In the thousands of years that man existed as serfs, slaves, and indentured servitude, Heaven existed to them as a reprieve from the tortuous lives they led.
Inhabitants of "First World Nations" feel little need for such promises as today, they exist in "Heaven on Earth".

You consider yourself as a judge of others?
I’ve read it, more times than I care to remember. You good with hanging with Hitler for eternity if he accepted Christ right before he pulled the trigger on that Luger in the bunker?
As far as judging others? Yeah… if some pos is fuggin kids I tend to judge them. As a matter of fact, I’d be fine being judge, jury and executioner for them.
Not LDS here, but I have the utmost respect for every one of them I have got to know. I was broke down up in the Utah mountains, they towed my truck 37 miles with a chain to someone that would open their repair shop and fix my vehicle, stayed with me till the job was done. They would not take one penny.
I knew a lot of LDS when I lived in Az, rode horses and hunted with a lot of them.
People are brought to Christ not through persuasive words or silver tongues. People are brought to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Did Jesus bring people to Himself “through persuasive words or silver tongues”...? People who were nothing like Jesus liked Jesus. They were attracted to Him. People who are nothing like Christians should like Christians as well. But they often don’t. They are often repelled by them. Understandably. There are some Christians who seem to pride themselves in being disliked and they even use that as a guage of how effectively they are ‘living for Jesus’ and ‘spreading the Gospel’ in the world.

Undoubtedly. I grew up in a church where the (highly respected) youth minister got caught banging strange while his wife died of cancer, preacher got nailed banging a woman he was giving “marital counseling “ and head deacon was caught having an affair. Real eye opener to an 18yo.

I bet there are (and are gonna be) a lot of surprised folks in hell!
Probably so. But no one will be surprised that they're in heaven.
You apparently have no idea how many of us would be extremely shocked to find ourselves in either.
Some of us understand that when the electrons quit flowing inside the old cranium, all consciousness is lost.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I agree. My beliefs align closer to the Buddhists. Life is suffering. The cause of suffering is giving a fugg what others think of you. Quit giving a fugg what others think of you and you’ll find happiness.

Like most other folks of any flavor, creed, color, Nationality, there's good and bad.
I was screwed by a Mormon owned car dealership on some repairs when I lived in AZ. Hard to say it was just business when, at the time in about 2001, I was told directly by them they were charged $225 for a clutch kit by their jobber, and normal markup was to double that. Which is why they wanted to charge me $450. And I wasn't told this over the phone, I was sitting across from them at a table in their conference room. And not only were the parts and service managers there, but the general manager who's family name was on the BIG sign outside.
I found it interesting, in that I called a local parts dealer and retail cost to me was less than that, and I called two other dealerships, same brand, and was told I could come in and get one from their parts department for $185 at the most expensive. I told them they got screwed if they were charged $225 for parts I could get retail from two dealers for less than their cost from a wholesaler and that they might want to find another supplier. Basically, I told them they were lying right to my face.
I won't mention the name, it's well known in the area and perhaps they have repented.
I never looked at it as "Mormons are evil".................just that particular business and the family that runs it.

Sometimes we take ourselves a little too seriously but when we’re talking about our souls and their possible disposition and of the eternities, things then get a bit personal and the scchitt will hit the wall.
A couple things here the real name of the church is “the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. So I don’t see how some can say we aren’t Christians when a Christian is a follower of Christ, and Jesus Christ is in bold letters in the official name.
Growing up in Texas I always thought it was unusual that preachers basically said believe my words. When you receive teachings of the lds church you are told not to just believe the words but to pray and ask god yourself. The most famous passage of scripture in the Book of Mormon instructs people to do just that. Ask god if it’s true. I think this is the opposite of some saying it’s a cult, why would a cult say dude go ask god if our message is true.
Cults involve one leader and that leader seeks more power and influence. Almost all the lds church leadership rotates in and out of leadership.
Sadly some non members feel like we ostracize them. This is against our teachings if this happens. Our teachings teach people to fellowship and help all. I think it happens because nearly everyone you live around knows each other and sees each other at least weekly. Of course you act differently to those you know verses don’t know. I think that is what non members see and it’s not intentional.
I say this again without enough people of all faiths believing in Judeo Christian values our nation willnot be free. The lds church is the most successful home grown American religion. I think that is kinda cool
Simple question. What say you?
mike r
Depends.
Do you or don’t you believe him when he said:
“I am the way, the life and the truth. No man goes to the Father except through Me”.
Being a “good person “ doesn’t supercede that.
According to what is written,
So a pedophile can go to heaven by accepting Christ 30 seconds before he dies, but a good man who lives a life mirroring Christ’s teachings but never “accepts” Christ as the son of God, burns for eternity? Seriously?!
Read it for yourself, Jack.
You consider yourself as a judge of others?
I’ve read it, more times than I care to remember. You good with hanging with Hitler for eternity if he accepted Christ right before he pulled the trigger on that Luger in the bunker?
As you’ve read it more times than you care to remember what do you believe?
I’m not good with “hanging with” anybody . Period.
We will each and individually stand accountable for our deeds of commissions and omissions AND for our beliefs.
He and only He will judge for the eternities, not you, not me, not any other human.
I believe my destiny is in my hands. If the Christian God stands by and allows children to be tortured and raped, men and women to be slaughtered, mass genocide etc… then we’re on the same page.
He puts us here and gives us a very simple set of rules and instructions to live our lives by. But He also blessed us with Free Will.
Every social ill and every example of man’s inhumanity to his fellow man that we have had over the eons is directly caused by the misuse of the gift of Free Will.

Your “success “ or lack of it will be determined by another one and not you or me or other mortals.
They deserve better than to be made fun of.
I agree. They don't need to be made fun of, but they need those who actually care enough about them to tell them about the real God of the Bible and how to be with him someday . He is clearly described in their KJV Bible. That's the seed that's been planted and watered .

And who says you are a spokesman for the real God? You are competing with 1500 other Christian faiths for that title who are as insistent you're wrong as you are they're wrong.

I don't see it as a competition. What I'm sharing is a gift ...."The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.". Romans 6:23
That's One faith, regardless of what denomination may say on some other issues. The other "faith" either adds to faith in Jesus, or takes away from Him. Those are basically the two faiths. Grace is the kindness that God extends to us all through His Son Who purchased that gift by His own body on the cross. When I was raised, I knew something about this, but never had anybody who took the time or knew how to show me from God's Word what He says about that. Have you ever had that personal offer?

There's lots written about baptism that clearly shows that it is not a requirement for salvation, but rather an "ordinance" if you will, or first step of obedience that is supposed to follow the gift received by faith. The couple of references that certain sects use as their proof texts are understood by basic rules of interpretation that a teenager can learn. For example, if the word " believe," is used in regards to Christ and His resurrection in the gospel of John alone, and it is......we should not assume that Peter is adding a new requirement of water baptism to salvation in Acts chapter two, verse 38 which is used as one of those " proof texts" for the denominations that promote works based salvation.

Except one is born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God, says Jesus to Nicodemus. And you say it's not essential to salvation? Says who? Not Jesus. Which then gets back to your authority problem: neither you or your minister have had hands laid on him (conveying authority) by anyone who themselves had authority. Which gets back to my original point (made in my first post and repeated below):
"I find the idea that there is today an integrated Christian " faith and church", which is God's faith and church in the same way there was a true and integrated Christian faith (and church) at the time of Christ, to be quite laughable. Yet there is no shortage of bigots who want to denounce Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists and JWs, when the claims of the bigots are no more authoritative than those they mock."
That's probably the truth. It's also the truth that a co-worker's high school senior, a starter as a sophomore and junior, was benched by the new mormon coach in favor of a "promising" freshman who happened to be mormon. There's the official line, and there's the real world. I would NEVER have raised my kids in a predominantly mormon community. They would have been ostracized, if not by intent, by reality.
Like other people, there's good and bad LDS members. And like any other group of people, they can get very clannish, even mob like.
Funny story. First time I came into the town of Grace, ID, my FIL and I went to town for lunch, sat down in the little local restaurant, and when the (young) waitress came to bring the menu, we ordered a cup of coffee. Without missing a beat, she said "the smoking section is on the other side". For many behind the Zion curtain, the world is black and white. Either you're LDS, and OK, or you're assumed to be a coffee guzzling, smoking, boozing womanizer that kicks the dog, tortures the cat and hates kids, his mother, and apple pie........
People aren't wired to see shades of gray. Either you're with us, or you're against us. Friend or stranger. Black or white. Republican or Democrat. When one group gets to be dominant, that tendency tends to have ugly repercussions for the minority.

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. ... ...so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?"
Jesus is addressing a man with some credentials. It really doesn't matter as you can read. He doesn't even understand the simple teaching as one of Israel's officially ordained master teachers.
Jesus never mentioned baptism in this passage. He never even brings up what baptism represents. The point Jesus is making is that this religious man with credentials needs to be born spiritually. Jesus refers to the FIRST birth, then to the second/spiritual birth.
The First birth is "of the flesh." It is being "born of water"and of the spirit , then the spirit.
The first birth most women would understand immediately. For nine months her baby is in water and the sign of birth is the breaking of water from which the child emerges. We know that is not a baby baptism, but a birth.
Nicodemus is rebuked by Jesus for not understanding the second birth. He did not even believe the earthly thing Jesus just explained about the first birth and the example of wind.
The ONLY thing he says concerning the second birth was that it was of the Spirit.
Then Jesus gives the details in vss. 14-18.
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
If anyone had credentials, then Nicodemus and Caiaphas the High priest did. They were officially ordained by THE major recognized religion that was supposed to teach the Bible, make copies and evangelize unbelievers. I wouldn't ask them.

22 "After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea."
Do we need a certified Jewish Rabbi of the lineage of Aaron to decipher this mystery? Where's Nicodemus? I think he was left back in scene one, chapter three wasn't he? I am still looking for its mention to Nicodemus.

Query:
What was it that the disciple taught the Eunuch that made baptism the first thing the Eunuch thought of after coming to believe??
I don't read audiences. I simply do what God tells me to do. It's out of my hands.
Not LDS here, but I have the utmost respect for every one of them I have got to know. Having exceptional character traits and above average work ethic doesn’t offset stupid beliefs.
its only stupid because you dont believe as they do.....to them it is the right way.....I am not mormon but I do respect them
I am in the camp of when you are dead....youre dead .....bob
I find the idea that there is today an integrated Christian " faith and church", which is God's faith and church in the same way there was a true and integrated Christian faith (and church) at the time of Christ, to be quite laughable. At the time of Christ, there was obviously only one church, one faith---one accepted canon of doctrine.
This is not true. An even casual reading of the Bible shows the truth. It was as wrought with division then as it is now.
But others believe in the same Bible you do and see the salvific truth very differently. There is also the issue of baptism. It is an essential ordinance, but who has the authority? You see, you can't avoid the problem of "says who"?
Do you read the Bible if so you will see that Christ laid out what is essential so it does not matter "who says". You seem obsessed with what people say.
Do you believe God exists? If no. Then google William Lane Craig for a good start. If yes. Then you must believe in the supernatural ability of His power to comunicate the truth.
Except one is born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God, says Jesus to Nicodemus. And you say it's not essential to salvation? Says who? Not Jesus.
Being born of water means being born from the womb. Sprinkling water on someone is not being born. No where in the Bible does anyone say water baptism is essential.
Here He is clearly says being born of the water is being born of the flesh.
"Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." (Joh 3:5-6 ESV)
I'm LDS. It seems pointless to discuss it here I just figured I'd stand and be counted. I get enough crap about it from my own family. They belong to a congregation called cowboys for Christ that might have 200 members. If I don't get baptized into their congregation and become a real Christian I'm going to hell.
It's going to be lonely for them in heaven with only 200 of them. They believe Christ vicariously died for their sins but think I'm going to hell for believing someone can vicariously be baptized for someone who never had an opportunity. They believe that works don't matter and that they are saved by grace but only if they do the work of being baptized into their one and only congregation.
They say God is fair and just and loves all of his children but think he's only going to save those baptized into their congregation. So if you don't live in Southern Idaho you are screwed.
I'll be spending Father's day weekend with them and can't wait for them to tell me the same old Revelations says you can't add anything to this book or you're going to hell. Then I say do you even realize how and when the Bible was put together. And, who did it and that Revelation might be the last book in it but it was written as a stand alone and wasn't the last written time wise in the Bible. BTW they hate the Catholic religion too.
A big part of me is just happy they've found some sort of religion other than partying. If they have to answer for how they treated us as kids they'll need it. It seems like my only refuge growing up was at my LDS neighbors home so at about 17 I joined them. It was a great move for me but to each his own. I know as well as anyone that LDS people are far from perfect but I've yet to meet anyone of any religion who was. I just think a religion should at a minimum ask you to try to be a better person.
Sorry if none of this makes sense but I've been awake all night in pain again and these long rambling posts help take my mind off of it.

Burleyboy,
No worries buddy. I am friends with a number of Mormons. I just don’t understand why they don’t want me to join.
1 Timothy 1:15 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief
Isn’t that what Christ came here to do? Yet all the chatter of who is right and who is wrong divides the sinners and makes all Christians finding fault with other faiths, nothing more than who they are condemning.
Isn't Pocafella a predominantly Mormon community??
Probably about 30 some %. University town, historically a little more industrial than the rest of South East Idaho. Everybody knows what everyone else believes, and there's not much "attempts to convert" going on.
When I say "predominantly". I'm thinking of the smaller rural farming towns, which can be upwards of 90% mormon. Heck, where I farm, even the Mexican farm hands go to the LDS church. Just a matter of convenience, at that point. At that level of LDS membership, the church becomes the center of everything, boy scouts, social activities, everything. The fair is organized in church, that sort of thing. Again, not out of malicious intent, but because the good, upstanding citizens with a civic bent are in church together for three hours every Sunday, and that's where the vast majority of networking takes place. But if you have kids that don't go there, they will simply be left out (unless they are targeted for "recruitment", at which point there will be a very deliberate effort to include them..... until they make it known they aren't interested in becoming a member. At which point they are dropped by their "friends", at the direction of their parents. ). Again, not out of malice, at all, but that's just the way it works, and it's incredibly tough on especially young kids.
The same thing goes for trying to run a business that is built on relationships. Don't start an insurance brokerage in a predominantly mormon town unless you are a mormon. It's just not going to go well because you will be excluded from the primary networking system in the community, and there's not a Lion's club or Rotary you can join to make up for it.

. I am sorry you feel that way. I can see how kids would feel left out. In my neighborhood this happens when some kids go to a charter school and most others go to regular school. The public regular school kids see each other every day, The charter school kids don’t integrate as well with the others on church activities.
Our teachings say to love all and help others. If you come across an lds person who you feel is treating you the opposite that is against our own teachings.
I do have a bias I will admit to. I don’t want my kids to marry non members. But that is really because marriage is hard enough and mixing cultures is just even harder. I think the closer culture your spouse is the better chance your marriage has.
Burley, I am sure there is more to your story. Probably interesting. Your decision will impact generations. Love that part of Idaho, it’s like going back in time 20 years.,

My SDA Uncle was married to the most wonderful LDS woman in the world for fifty years before she passed from heart issues. The four kids did Sabbath School on Sat and Mormon Sunday School on Sunday.
It was an interesting relationship.
And that is why an Adventist Pastor will not marry a member to a nonmember. Yes, you can get married, but the Pastor will not perform the ceremony.
Born of water means baptism, not being born period. It is non-sensical and redundant to say you can't be saved unless or until you've been born. Duh! There is a reason that the Eunuch sought baptism immediately after his conversion. How essential is baptism to salvation? Even Christ was baptized and baptism was an essential ordinance in the early church.
But others believe in the same Bible you do and see the salvific truth very differently. There is also the issue of baptism. It is an essential ordinance, but who has the authority? You see, you can't avoid the problem of "says who"?

Do you believe God exists? If no. Then google William Lane Craig for a good start. If yes. Then you must believe in the supernatural ability of His power to comunicate the truth.
You and all "Christians" are the ones obsessed with what people say because you have formed 1500 different churches all teaching different doctrines "essential" for salvation. If the truth is so damn clear, how come no one can agree on it?
Not LDS here, but I have the utmost respect for every one of them I have got to know. I was broke down up in the Utah mountains, they towed my truck 37 miles with a chain to someone that would open their repair shop and fix my vehicle, stayed with me till the job was done. They would not take one penny.
I knew a lot of LDS when I lived in Az, rode horses and hunted with a lot of them.
They deserve better than to be made fun of.
I agree. They don't need to be made fun if, but they need those who actually care enough about them to tell them about the real God of the Bible and how to be with him someday
But others believe in the same Bible you do and see the salvific truth very differently. There is also the issue of baptism. It is an essential ordinance, but who has the authority? You see, you can't avoid the problem of "says who"?
I think that was already answered. Jesus the Christ Himself explained to a master of Israel the ONLY requirement for salvation. He devoted half of a chapter to help you understand that.
You are born into this world so you, like everyone else, are condemned and in need of a savior. You are incapable of saving yourself through baptism or any other good work. Baptism is a ritual much like circumcision was in the O.T. They were physical rituals established in order to demonstrate a spiritual reality. There were many of these, none of which could save. "Believe" is mentioned exactly 100 times in that one gospel alone. It is emphasized to prove what God requires of you for salvation... No works of man, just that acceptable perfect sacrifice of His only begotten Son. That work was completely acceptable. Do you believe that? It was summarized in verse 18.
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Not LDS here, but I have the utmost respect for every one of them I have got to know. One scripture out of thousands and taken to out of context. Again, "says who"? 1500 Christian churches can't all be right!

I can’t see where we’re disagreeing. To me Members are just regular people, like any others. If they have good hearts, that’ll come out. If they are crooks, the Church isn’t going to stop it.
Nevertheless, the way the church is organized impacts non-members of the community, and I find that members are, perhaps willfully, blind to those impacts.
Heaven is on earth. Live like there’s no tomorrow because when you die, it’s over. Lights out. Just like that dead squirrel in the road ran over by a dump truck. Nothing else.
I told my bud about this movie. He’s pretty devout Mormon. Me not so much I’m pretty opened minded. I told him the church changed the narrative on how ol Joe Smith found the gold templates. When ol boy said he found the original writings. Yes it involved a salamander lol. But the church for a short time changed the narrative that a salamander lead ol Joe Smith to them. My bud got pretty upset about it and at me lol.. so yeah this is something die hard Mormons are not watching. It will make them question the church.

When one group gets to be dominant, that tendency tends to have ugly repercussions for the minority.
Love that part of Idaho, it’s like going back in time 20 years.,
I can’t see where we’re disagreeing. To me Members are just regular people, like any others. If they have good hearts, that’ll come out. If they are crooks, the Church isn’t going to stop it.
Nevertheless, the way the church is organized impacts non-members of the community, and I find that members are, perhaps willfully, blind to those impacts.
I can't say personally as I never lived down South, but folks I've known that did have told me they experienced similar in smaller towns with members of the predominant denomination there. Keeping it all in the family so to speak. Outsiders only marginally welcome, unless it impacts their Church's members, then they're not welcome at all.
This whole exclusion thing on non-members being excluded from members that seems to be predominantly a Idaho and Utah Mormon thing up here in Alaska I have friends their daughters go to church functions, go to young women’s functions all that. They are not pressured to join the church they ask if they want to be taught lessons and let them know and they will come over and teach some lessons but far as being pressured to join the church that I have yet to see that as well. They are included with open arms into church activities not excluded so again that’s just an Idaho Utah Mormon thing not anywhere else far as Mormons go far as I know especially up here in Alaska. My daughter went to Idaho State for two years in Pocatello and she was ostracized more by nonmembers from when they found out she was a member of the church so don’t give me that chit that members are ostracizing nonmembers. My daughter when she was in middle school lost a real good friend when her parents found out my daughter was a Mormon they wouldn’t allow her their daughter to hang out with her anymore but good ph ucking riddance they were from the south anyways I think Louisiana
Heaven is on earth. Live like there’s no tomorrow because when you die, it’s over. Lights out. Just like that dead squirrel in the road ran over by a dump truck. Nothing else.

Same/same in my opinion (now the holy wrath from the Southern Baptists will rain upon us ;-) ). I’ve experienced it living in Texas, but also in small towns in Europe. It’s something we used to train exchange students to be aware of.

Some day we'll see, won't we?
If I’m wrong it’s going to be bad.
You are correct. If we’re wrong, you can have a good laugh at our expense. Something to consider.
I’ve no idea on how accurate the show is, and wouldn’t make any judgement based on it, but it was mildly fascinating.

I watched that and really enjoyed the show. I don't think the church ever changed the narrative to the salamander but a master forger tried to sell the church a fake letter he forged that a bogus salamander story in it. First he offered it to some prominent anti Mormons and then tried to get the church to buy it to keep out of the other guys hands. Some church historians said it looked like a real document from that time period. However the church declined to buy it but an individual church member later did for like $40,000. He tried to get it authenticated but it proved to be a forgery.
Mark Hoffmann, the forger, forged all kinds of documents. He claimed to be a church member but openly admitted he didn't believe in God and said his desire was to destroy the church from within. Churches just like political parties sometimes get evil people on the inside claiming to be one of them when their real goal is to destroy what they can from within. Think Mitt Romney and the Republican party. Unfortunately Mitt isn't the only douche bag in the LDS church.
We get some treacherous people sometimes trying to hide behind the faith. Especially in Utah and East Idaho because con men see it as a quick way to gain acceptance in a an area with a large LDS population. I've had the joy of seeing them excommunicate a few of them. I personally like the fact that are church will still do that when needed. I wish the Republicans would throw a few rhinos out.
Sorry to mix church and politics it's just for illustration and comparison for those who aren't church goers. I personally run from people if they try to use their religion to close a business deal. When a contractor starts talking church to me I pretty much assume he's out to rip me off. Not just LDS either. My evangelical Christian framer that has scriptures on his tool trailer took me for a couple of grand a few years ago. If I'd have seen the trailer first I'd have hired someone else.

I have no animosity toward the myriad of LDS reformed, fundamentalist, or whatever community. I've rubbed shoulders in schools and daily life for many years. I've treated those who told me they went to this or that church with the same consideration and respect as another unless they gave me good reason not to.
That which I take issue with is not the individuals, but the religious teachings. Knowing that a religious faith has either benefit or consequences, depending on what the Lord tells us, I strive to be in agreement with Him.
Even within denominations, there are many individuals with various views.

When I come to 24HR it is usually to ask a few questions about guns, share a few hunting/shooting pics and buy/sell a few things on the classifieds. Never knew I was in the presence of so many experts on the LDS Faith. "Learned" quite a few interesting things today about my faith. Thanks everyone for the education!

I just found out about the whole salamander thing so don’t feel too bad.
I have genuinely liked every LDS person that I have met but Romney(who I have not met) sucks. LDS folks tend to be honest, helpful and patriotic. I believe that they truly had to be masochistic in the past. I feeling lucky getting through 1 menstrual cycle per month. Two or three would probably literally wind up killing me and Pre-Blue Pill- those boys must of been rubbing jimson weed on their privates to keep the henhouse happy all of the time.

Now there's some signature line material in there somewhere.

No way I could cook and clean for 6. I can barely clean up after my one wife.
Didn't Jack Mountain say that there was nothing hereafter? That is why he is as bitter as the boy dog heading to the vet to get neutered. You and I, who have Christ in our hearts, will be hunting big sheep in heaven with Jack O'Connor, Fred Bear and my father who was a heck of a fun guy to go hunting with. I am sure that God helped invent the best scotch whiskey as his son made water into wine so we will be fine.
This is a Mormon thread. Question should be “Do you have three wives and fourteen kids?”
I’ve met a lot of Mormons and none of them had three wives or 14 kids.
That’s why majority of us don’t talk about it. Never fails the questions comes up how many wive you have. Well mr dumb ass asking questions. Polygamy is against the law, The church chit canned it when Utah became state. History lesson for all you southerners Utah had to remove polygamy from the state constitution in order to become a state. While their are so called “Mormons” still doing the polygamy thing. They have been ex communicated they usually end up joining some fringe Mormon group.

What state do you live in? Do you know where modern jurisprudence had it's origins?
Exodus 20 "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." God said that.
There's also actual crimes that today go by different terms than they did in Bible times. One is defamation Mr. Brown. I wonder what the criminal codes are in your state?

At least you can have a sense of humor about all the misconceptions and falsehoods. People normally vilify things they don’t understand. They normally default to vilification instead of researching what they don’t understand too. I have a few friends that are LDS, one “excommunicated “ or whatever it’s called in this particular religion. Two are VERY successful. One grew up in it, one joined in high school. Remind me a lot of the mennonites in some ways. Work ethic, honest, prepping….
I’m actually envious of believers. It definitely makes life a little simpler if you believe all the misery in this world is just a test and there’s big rewards in the afterlife. I truly hope you’re right. The universe is a wonder and things like the impossibility of finite space means there’s so much more out there we can’t comprehend or understand. I think there’s a lot more to know and possibly we can live another life, but I think the traditions passed down in most religions contain enough similarities that they’re likely all rooted in the same knowledge from the past, described in the terms man’s feeble mind could use to describe what he’d seen or was told.

Light gauge steel studs resonate sound much less than wood. 2 layers of 5/8” Sheetrock and closed cell poly foam would really deaden it.

I’ve met a lot of Mormons and none of them had three wives or 14 kids.
I've met a few Mexicans with one wife and fourteen kids in the house.............and two or three mistresses, and possibly a few other kids the wife did not know about.
And about four I have known with a wife and kids in Mexico, and another full set of Wife and kids in America. Always telling the family back in Mexico he ALMOST has earned enough money to bring them all to America.
But I think that is a bit different than the polygamy practiced by pioneering Mormans in the Salt Lake basin.
What kind of generalized statements might we make about Catholics based upon the information stated above?
Been with and married to one for ten years. What would you like to know?
What is the requisite amount of food stores? Which 15 passenger van gets the best fuel mileage? Romney, yes or no? How the hell do you sober up without black coffee?

Nothing wrong with the Jack Mormons that I have known. They were the best bootleggers getting rutgut whiskey out to the bush. For some reason, nobody would check their luggage.
At work it is an oft repeated joke: You can take two Mormons fishing. But never take just one, he will drink all your beer.
The workplace is about 20% Mormon, and rapidly passing 50% Mexican Catholic.

What is the requisite amount of food stores? Which 15 passenger van gets the best fuel mileage? Romney, yes or no? How the hell do you sober up without black coffee?
I can answer that, and I am not even Mormon. I just can not STAND the taste of coffee.
There is no need to sober up when one does not drink.
The bad side of not drinking is: When you wake up in the morning, you know that is as good as you are going to feel all day.

Judging by your answers, I’m possibly a Mormon.
Fugg, I figured one of you pervs would have started with the Magic Underwear. Out here we call it the Rocky Mountain Surf Suit.
why would anyone want to go chill with a screaming, moaning choke on her vomit loser like Joplin?

Instead I had Foghat!!!
Nope I figure that many people like the leaf. Sitting around the heavenly fire with Waylon, John Denver and Bob Marley wouldn't suck. I do know that Stalin, Mao, and Hitler are all sitting in hell with pineapples getting stuffed up uncomfortable places. I sure hope they have Radler seltzer up there because I sure don't want white claw.

That was like page 2… geez, try to keep up. Slumlord even posted some chick modeling her temple garments.
Good question though, do the magic undies/temple garments stop a knife attack? Bullets? A ninja kick to the testicles? Prevent COVID-19?

I don't know Slumlord, That Janis Joplin chick had a set of pipes on her. If she could belt it out like that she probably could really perform suckage. That is pretty important these days. Look at that Hyena who got the VP job from performing from her knees.

Kamala sounds like the name of a VP in some third world sub Saharan scheit hole.
I don't know. She went downtown on Willie Brown and she made Biden's Corn Pop. Probably the only one who would let him smell her hair. Every one of the rest of us would have picked Tulsi in a heart beat.
You know I have been drinking whiskey between putting in potatoes. Those rows are probably going to have to be fixed tomorrow but the RedBreast 12 is fantastic during the breaks.
On a side note, I think Joseph and Aram Von Benectdik are LDS and they are pretty good writers. I think Aram is a bit of a better hunter but Joseph is a better writer.

WTF is a Unitarian Universalist? Saw that one today. Maybe I’m being naive, but it seems like a little consolidation is in order….How many shades of gray do we need?

That’s usually the way it goes in the Arbon Valley. Fire starts, the phone tree starts, and farmers start heading to the fire and put it out in no time flat.
Couple of years back, we had an uppity new BLM guy that was going to throw the book at the farmers for “vandalism” or some such, wanted them to wait for the “official” firefighters. That was NOT a career enhancing move for him..... there wasn’t quite tar and feathers involved, but after that he could not get anything done.

Hale Bopp ufo in the tail of the comment crew???
Everyone of em supposedly had a roll of quarters on em.
You and all "Christians" are the ones obsessed with what people say because you have formed 1500 different churches all teaching different doctrines "essential" for salvation. If the truth is so damn clear, how come no one can agree on it?
Precisely the main reason I dumped western Christianity a long time ago.

You know why they bury Mormons 12 feet deep instead of 6?
Because down deep we are really good people.
A group of Baptists die one day and go to heaven. When they get there St Peter is giving them a tour and it's lush and beautiful. During the tour one looks over the edge and asks St Peter what's that place down there. He says don't look over the edge at that awful place that's he'll down there.
The Baptist says what do you mean awful place? It looks just as lush and beautiful down there as it does up here. St Peter says what? Then he looks over the edge and says "it looks like those damn Mormons are irrigating again."
Not a Rocky Mountain Jew joke but I like this next one because I've been dealing with another crooked contractor lately.
Someone dies and goes to heaven and is waiting outside the pearly gates to get it. After a few minutes StPeter shows up to let him in. On his way in the guy comments how beautiful the gates are and asks where they came from. St Peter says, "oh, we had had to go down to hell and get a contractor to put them in."
A elderly Mormon asked his doctor if he thought he’d live to be a hundred. The doctor asked the man, “Do you smoke or drink?” “No,” he replied, “I’ve never done either.” “Do you gamble, drive fast cars, and fool around with women?” inquired the doctor. “No, I’ve never done any of those things either.” “Well then,” said the doctor, “what do you want to live to be a hundred for? ____________________
The Dean of Women at BYU was lecturing her students on sexual morality. "We live today in very difficult times for young people. In moments of temptation," she said, "ask yourself just one question: Is an hour of pleasure worth a lifetime of shame?" A young woman rose in the back of the room and said, "Excuse me, but how do you make it last an hour?" ____________________
A Baptist a Catholic and a Mormon were talking about their families. . . The Baptist says I have 4 kids, just one more and I'll have a basketball team. The Catholic says That's nice but I have 10 kids, one more and I'll have a football team. The Mormon says Well, I have 17 wives, one more, and I'll have a golf course. ____________________
What's the difference between a Catholic wedding and a Mormon wedding? At a Catholic wedding, the bride is pregnant. At a Mormon wedding, the bride's mother is pregnant. ____________________
How are Mormons better than Catholics? They marry the children before they molest them. ____________________ What do you get when you cross a Jehovah Witness and a Mormon? Someone who won't leave your porch. ____________________
Q: What do you get when you cross a Kleptomaniac and a Mormon?
A: A basement full of stolen food. ____________________
