Dump it in the car a few gallons at a time with at least a half tank already in there to dilute it somewhat.

I try to be near an empty tank to a 1/4 tank with a little Seafoam in there and then top off wish fresh gas the next time I run it.

I put stabil in it when I bought it so I just use it. Never had an issue.

My fuel is treated and I try to leave little in the tank at the end of the season.

Stuff in the portable tanks get dumped into the car. The ski boat gets almost filled with fresh ethanol free gas and stabilizer for the 7 month sit.
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

The Almar hold about 70 gallons. I try to keep all three tanks full all the time to prevent water buildup from condensation inside the tank.
I fill them with ethanol free premium to feed the Ford small block. And add Sea Foam in the fall.
People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.

Ethanol free and a bit of stabilizer in gear that may sit. Start things up and just run it.
Small tanks like chainsaws and weed eaters get drained and run dry each fall.

I burn as much as I can in my weedeater and saw.
Ethanol free is best if you can find it. Stabil helps.
Mix fresh gas with the old.

Depends also on how the boat (or portable tank) was stored, and how full the tanks were as others have alluded to.
Outdoor storage with temperature and humidity fluctuations will draw moisture into your tanks - better dump it in your wife's car a couple gallons at a time.
Indoor climate controlled storage - you might still be perfectly fine using it in your boat.

If it hasn't been stabilized, I mix it with Premium and burn it as usual. Even when I didn't in years past, I've had no problems with it. Some of that stuff sat in opened or unopened drums, or in smaller cans for years at a time.
I try to rotate my remote cabin stuff on a yearly basis - or whenever I get there (one time a 7 year lapse- gas burned fine....). Only in the last few years have I taken to adding stabilizer to it before I leave.
This is all non-ethanol. I tend to chamois everything that has sat for awhile for any water content.
It doesn't hurt to take all the above precautions.
I guess....

I keep all tanks full of treated ethanol free gas and have never had troubles with a boat, small engines, or even a generator for multiple years. The only trouble I ever had was forgetting a tank of non-treated e10 in a motorcycle.

I will leave gas sit in something for two or three years and it burns fine.
Sometimes longer than that.

Run Ethanol-free 100% of the time. Start doping w/Sea Foam when I'm getting close to the end of the season so the Sea-Foam is well distributed throughout all the lines and carb-bowl. Fill to the tippy-top prior to going into storage leaving no room for condensation.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.
