It gets a high bc bullet in the game for .277 lovers. Looks to be a good well thought out round but I am suspecting a bit late to the party. If I was in the market for such a round it surely would be a consideration. However I am old school and enjoy the HUNT, which to me is getting closer for a shot.

The almost 60 year old 7mm Rem Mag with rebarreled 1-8 twist and throated to specs will easily outshine the 6.8 Western with 162, 175 and 180+ grain class bullets. BCs from .630 to .800+, more aerodynamic and faster than the 6.8 Western out of the gate. On LA like Howa, Remington, etc., no problem with the longest, sleekest of 7mm bullets. Can’t see the need at all for the 6.8 Western. Could also easily rebarrel and throat a 270 WSM for fast twist and do the exact same thing.

I've got one .270 and it's the old standby Winchester. I'm a hunter but being an old curmudgeon I'm not into super long range shots at game. I'm thinkin' there's too much to go wrong. So I limit my shots to 400-500 yards, if that. But I would like to shoot heavy for caliber bullets at game, maybe 160-175 grains. Also, though I don't shoot at game at long distance I would like a rifle capable of punching paper at 1000 yards.

So why a .270? Because on that other forum I belong to there's a lot of .270 haters and I just want to prove to them that the .277 diameter is capable, (Yeah I'm an agitator like that, LOL!.) This cartridge is perfect for that purpose. I like it.
