i checked kbb and carmax and my car is valued at $38000 , this is more than i paid for. what in the wide world of sports is going on here?
A few months ago my 2018 ZR2 had a trade in value of $24500, today with 5,000 more miles it's trade in number is $31000. Go figure!

CoWorker bought a new F250 last year decided to go with a F350 duallie for towing a camper, the dealer offered nearly 10k over what he paid for the F250 last year

Crazy stuff going on. He asked because his boss sold a 5 year old duramax to them, not traded, sold for cash, $42,000. I thought he was BSing me till I got on the dealers website & saw what they were asking for used units.
In mar 2020 I bought a 2 owner 2015 Cc silverado with the Duramax with 103000 mi. Extremely clean in all aspects. Not an LTZ but still highly optioned. I gave 32k. it now has 107k mi I have seen some crazy numbers being asked for these used pick ups now I have no doubt I could sell mine for 42k in a day or two.

Im looking at Tacomas today. 40k for used 2017-19. do a comparison on the 2nd Gen (05-15) vs the 3rd Gen (16-current) I've had 2-2nd Gens with the 4.0L V6 (10 minute oil changes) The newer 3.5L has the silly oil cartridge/canister 3rd Gen people complain a lot on the transmission... https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/3rd-gen-tacomas-2016.186/

We just sold a 2015 Taco TRD sport 4 door with 80k on the clock.
Paid 28 for it 3 years ago with 30k miles
Sold for 30k.
Nice time to sell if you don’t have to buy another.

Dealership where my wife bought her Tacoma has been pestering her to sell her 2019 Tacoma Limited 4x4 to them, said they would give her what she paid for it, she told them to pound sand.

New Toyota Tacoma’s are selling faster than Toyota can build them. Many dealers are charging 2-5K MORE than MSRP, and getting it. Trucks are often sold weeks, even months BEFORE they get to the dealer. I was shopping a few months ago and became frustrated. Finally found a dealer I trusted and told him what I wanted. They told me they had one coming in 3-4 weeks. Gave him a deposit. Things are crazy right now. My buddy has a 2012 Tundra SR5 Crewmax with 49k miles and the dealer just offered him $35k cash when he had it in getting the oil changed.

I took my Toyota in for service yesterday and there was a 4 dr Tacoma TRD sport on the floor with a Factory sticker 49745. That is 18 k more then my 2014 TRD with similar equipment.

I just saw a 2017 here with 33,000 miles loaded. They were asking $39,500. The dealer about an hour from here has a new one for 41k.

Man then I took it in the shorts on my '14 in March....
DC SB 4x4.....manual.....pd $23K in '17 w/70K miles
Sold it w/96K miles 3 yrs later for a mere $26K
Oh well schidt happens
