I lean the same way Richard. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they show they don't deserve it. At times that means backing out of a situation once you realize what it is. My wife and I were just talking about one such relationship she has and is struggling with. You want to do the right thing and give someone every chance, but at some point, some people just don't deserve grace. Or at the very least, you need to have boundaries to complete openness. That's a hard decision to make when you genuinely try to care for people.

Richard, nice guy that you are, have you asked gopher gunner directly about what happened to that shotgun, and all the other stuff folks here so graciously donated to his "cause" ?
Seems, from the evidence dug up by members here, that until gg comes out publicly with a very thorough explanation, that he appears to most to be "guilty", and if so, that should perhaps call into question your friendship and support of him?

I don't agree with piling on either, but from the evidence uncovered, and the fact the kamo_gari received his butchered up shotgun barrel back, I'd hazard a fairly educated guess that your friend is way in the wrong here.
Perhaps to many, your continued requests to be a part of something meant to turn a bad situation into good, is seen as either blind acceptance of your friend's/acquaintance's errant behavior, or a lack of perspective on your part.
As nice a person as I believe you to be, I think it in everyone's best interest you no longer request to be a part of the expeditions of Stubbs. It does not appear that Leighton will ever let that happen, and it may perhaps tarnish your stellar reputation with others here.
If you haven't talked to him in a long time, perhaps now it the time to find out to your satisfaction just what happened?

Dude I know had his house burn down last night. He got the cats out thank god. Total loss.... He lost his guns and all outdoor gear. He is a 100% disabled vet, and he gots the PTSD baaaaaad. He was a supply clerk in the 82nd in Grenada and he heard some gunfire.
Anyways Mossberg item # 81046 would really make his day.
