that area is semi-arid bordering on transition into desert. The deer in the western area of South Texas are a different subspecies that extends over into Mexico.
Body weights on mature bucks average 225 - 250, although one I took years ago was 265 on the scales. Really depends on the amount of rain in a year.
This year has been wet and cool, relatively speaking, so hopes are high for good year. Yes sir... Hope you slay a giant. How far from Del Rio/Carrizo?

Sako, wood stock, cause I like wood. I agree, probably in 6.5 X 55 just like the one I've got, or possibly in .308, which is a pretty good cartridge too.

I had a working faux Rigby Stalker built with this very purpose in mind and was a fair bit less expensive than the factory Rigby currently offered.

I did, it's a Tikka Roughtech 6.5CM and I sold off my other so/so rifles to get it. Cause it's what I wanted. It's not the Sako I had back when but it's damn close. Mike

Ran all my data into the computer over and over. Every answer was the same. Weatherby Vanguard synthetic all weather. I didn't question about cartridge as I knew it would be a Creedmoor! The rifle will be chambered in .270 Winchester.
