I'd rather die in a BAD gunfight than a GOOD nursing home.

Damn, Went to half my senior yr of high school just north of there in Littlefield, dated a girl from Levelland. Levelland was a nice little town when I was a kid. My Great Grandparents lived there. Used to visit often. We’d go hoe cotton with them. And pick black eyed peas. She’d kill a couple of chickens for Sunday Dinner. I’ve still got her old Iron Skillet.

Might wanna be asking why the dude barricaded himself before we get all weepy about one side or the other. Probably a dirtbag and deserving of a dirt nap, but it isn’t always, and times being what they are, we ought to be reserving judgement until we know what is actually happening. Nothing posted here gives enough detail to make that determination. Innocent folks don't shoot at cops, or anyone for that matter. This shidt is getting old. Time for LEO's to start making a point. You start shooting people, if it wasn't self defense and holing up in a structure doesn't help in self defense, you go down. No more touchy feely. Have you ever read of any innocent people killed by cops? Have you ever gone and phuukkt yourself? I'm sorry Grindr isn't working for you tonight. Just as sorry for this nation that you are apparently too stupid to understand a simple question.

I'm betting it is illegal drug / meth related. It's a shame what's happened to a lot of those small towns in West Texas with all the meth heads around...My hometown in West Texas became a crap hole when Meth hit there. Used to be a town where you could leave your doors unlocked day or night and never worry, and every church in town was packed to capacity on Sundays.....Not anymore, people would rob their own grandma there now..

Just out of curiosity though, what are the acceptable scenarios that you can imagine where you would shoot four LEO's, then barricade yourself in your house? Hadn’t really envisioned a day that bad, just somehow got used to the idea that a man was innocent until proven guilty, and thought we might wanna know what started it before we set the house on fire and burn him alive. Like I said, probably a dirtbag, but this is still America, and lynch mobs are still not a good thing. Now, I will tell ya, if anyone tries kicking my door in in the night, things will get interesting, because I have done nothing to expect cops visiting me. So I would assume it was a home invasion, at least initially. Folks could die. Or if folks come trying to take my guns or dog, badges notwithstanding, folks will likely die. Don’t expect it, but there it is. Never been a divorced parent with little kids the State wants to place with a druggie ex, either. Probably more things that might tip that scale. Those are just the immediate possibilities. "Innocent until proven guilty" doesn't apply to someone shooting at you.

The neighborhood looks like a bunch of small, single family homes. I hope no more cops get killed, shot.

It wasn't the Mexicans around causing problems when I was growing up there...Those were some hardworking/ family supporting son of a guns. There children walked the line too, or took a good ole beat down from mom and dad... Probably a different breed of them coming to West Texas now though.. The biggest troublemakers back in the day were the oilfield rich white kids and their buddies, but even they were no problem, compared to the meth heads/ drug addicts....I haven't lived there in around 20 years, but still read the news some and hear a lot of stories from family that is still out there...

Wasn’t even two months ago that two LEO’s were shot and killed in Eden TX. According to a witness account two Deputies went on the the shooter’s property to catch a dog that had bitten someone, the shooter told them to leave else he would shoot them, they reportedly rushed him and he did shoot them both. That’s one witness’s account anyway. https://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/au...ed-by-texas-deputies-in-yard-killed-themI dunno how that one will play out. The shooter was talked into to surrendering by the Mayor, his longtime neighbor. Sad day for all involved, most folks wouldn’t shoot two Cops over that. I’m guessing this Levelland incident is different.

It's always best to ask why the contact or attempt to arrest was made in the 1st place.
Remember Waco? Remember Ruby Ridge? Do a google search and see how many dozens of pages you can find where cops were in the wrong to some extent, all the way to 100% There are literally hundreds of them, or even thousands of them.
A barricaded man is not always a bad man and a cop is not always a good man.
When cops were more dedicated to their Oath of office we saw less of this kind of thing, but today most cops will get rough with you if you don't want to wear a surrender flag on you face and if you dare to stand for the Constitution yourself, many cops (thankfully not all) will do anything they can to "manufacture a crime".
. I think we need to know about the events leading up to this tragedy, but make NO decisions before we know why the arrest or contact.
Could be anything from dedicated cop-hating criminals just wanting to kill cops, to criminals willing to fight to Cops operating at the extreme edge of their constitutional power to cop just wanting to have an adventure at a citizens expense. Odds are this is a case of Cops VS Bad guys, but we can't assume that is true until we know more.
