I don't like where it's made (hate to beat that drum, but there it is....), but it checks a LOT of boxes that "American" (however you wish to define that) scope outfits are not.

It also does it at a price point that is pretty amazing. The SWFA 3-15 FFP is around $700, and the Athlon is illuminated, with a more "feature filled" reticle.

If it'll stand up to Stick throwing it on rocks and leaving it in the creek, I'll be putting one on my next rig. For that matter, I need to look at the larger models in the Helos line, I'm looking to upgrade the XTRII on my .22BR........

I don't like where it's made either but if it's good enough for Stick I'll get over it.

I've got one of those waiting on a 6mm arc build. That's a good looking setup there.

Another very nice Athlon scope is the Midas Tac.

For those that eschew Chinese made scopes, Sightron (a Japanese Company) makes a very nice Illuminated FFP w/Zero Stop in a 3-16x42mm flavor in both MIL or MOA (for the MIL challanged) with matching Reticles / Adjustments. At under 25 oz, and under $700. green backs it might be worth a look.

Sightron HQ is local to me so I get to see and fondle quite a few of them first hand at the range. No, I don't own this one, but just passing along an idea for consideration.

Yep. I've been a Sightron customer since they came on the scene, using them on my BR rigs and hunting and 'dog shooting guns. Allan Orr at Sightron has always been a great resource and their products are excellent. There might be a few of them on rifles here at my place. wink As for the S-TAC scopes, the 4-20 with the MOA reticle is one of my favorites and the 3-16 in either SFP or FFP can check a lot of boxes. Sightrons tracking has always been their strong point for me as it's an upgraded concept of the original El Paso Weaver's Micro Trac system.

Here's a few....

Good stuff! smile -Al

That one has intrigued me a bit. Made in the Philippines, but can be had for under $400. May have to get my hands on one.

Chris,

Be careful there's an older model Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42mm, Non FFP and Non Zero stop , Capped turrets that sells in the sub $400. range. These new one's are well north of $500. most places.

Thanks, but I am referring to the FFP version. Bought from both of these places. Drop shippers take time, but I'm a poor that stretches my budget as much as possible.

Optics Planet is awful. They have retail pricing with awful customer service. If I think I may need customer service, Doug is the go to. If I absolutely know what I want and $ is important, then the drop shippers get a look.

I wasn't suggesting buying from Optics planet, it was just the first site I found that had both models on board. It was an example, no more no less.....

And further, adding a product to your cart to get a lower price does not come up on search when you look for prices. The regular price for both at those sites you listed is $579.00 . And notice I said "most places", but some other folks may not be as savvy to notice that there was an older model and newer FFP ZStop model. And that's what I was trying to illustrate.

If you all already knew, good for you, mate....

I just received mine. Looks very robust. Clicks on the turrets are tactile and audible. Looks like a well built product but we will see. It will go in my Sako 85 (another challenge with the ejection issues), but this 7mm rem mag is infact very accurate.

Kind of surprised there was no battery included but no biggie.

I noted the lack of battery also and thought WTF? Reached in my desk drawer, pulled one out and was off to the races - no biggie!

Just placed an order for one of these.

They are out of stock, but are expecting a shipment soon.

Thank you Doug and Steve at Camra Land for the great pricing.

And, thank you Stick for the awesome photos of the reticle. I have never had one of these in my hand. Your photography skills made the difference.
