Remember why, specifically, the Bill of Rights was written...remember its purpose. It was written to limit the power of government over the individual.

Timing is perfect on that one. Buck thirty five when Andy was still working 20 years ago? Probably four bucks now. I had to get some water for fire crew supplies yesterday after getting skunked the day before at the local food marts. Every single bottle flat was skinned off, gallons only. So yep, Costco, three bucks for 40 of those "purified" waters. Actually not a bad deal compared to the name brand "water."
I didn't like Andy's positions on a lot of things, but man, he could sniff out stupid better than just about anyone.

And there are two different opinions on the matter. The one opinion, which I think is extreme, is represented by the NGOs, who bang on about declaring water a public right. That means that as a human being you should have a right to water. That's an extreme solution. The other view says that water is a foodstuff like any other, and like any other foodstuff it should have a market value." He added, "Personally, I believe it's better to give a foodstuff a value so that we're all aware it has its price, and then that one should take specific measures for the part of the population that has no access to this water."

He isn't a very popular man, nor is his company as they pump water out of the ground for essentially nothing and resell it. They recently sold their North American water bottling operations for $4.3billion

Essentially the view given African and other game animals - if they have value, you'll take care of it.

Everything I've ever seen given to people for free or near free/no cost to them specifically - ends up trashed. Public housing is a great example.

That said - Nestle Waters was recently sold to 2 investment type firms. Both known for cost cutting and efficiency driving. One owned(s) Pabst and used to own Twinkie when they went TU.

That 4.3b - IIRC is basically 1 year's revenue to get all the brands, goodwill, plants and physical equipment. Pretty cheap price but water is an ultra low margin commodity.

Unless you're chinese.

Then it's "if it has value exploit it, and when you run out, go exploit everyone else's and when we run out lie, lie, lie".

Well I did not know that. I'll be honest, I never watched SNL. I was fast asleep when it was on. I guess it was not the zinger I thought ... being borrowed and all.

"Curmudgeon Boy" - that sounds like an oxymoron, it doesn't quite have the ring Canteen Boy had.

I used to always get 40 half liter bottles at Costco for $2.99. The wife said it's too much plastic waste so now we have an office like water cooler that we pay about double for??

Our well driller infected our well with iron bacteria so our well water tastes nasty to me.
