That's a mockingbird

This is one of my catbirds

They’re different critters. Catbirds migrate. Mockingbirds stay for the winter, living off dried fruit mostly, IME. Both can be sociable with people, but mockingbirds are a bit more standoffish. One of their habits is singing at night, and they’re excellent mimics.

so why not just cut up some ripe bananas under your sugar water feeder?

I have a pair of hummingbirds I have been feeding for a few weeks. Not knocking the fruit fly thing but I also have a bunch of fruit trees

It's blitz season here. All the Black-chinned and Broad-tailed hummies have their kids of the year flying, making for crowded and boisterous dogfights at my feeders. Occasionally, we can see two at a feeder - must be nest mates or they'd fight. Going through a lot of syrup as a result.

It's a wonderful time, but it also means that they'll only be here for another month. Then comes the long, lonely winter. But winter is also junco season, and I love those cute little feather balls almost as much as the hummies.

Ditto on the fruit trees, not only domesticated ones, but a lot of wild ones too. Right now the black cherries are coming on strong and have the upper branches weighed down. There’s a constant flow of birds coming and going, easy living!
