There's several books by Terry Grosz, "Wildlife Wars", "A Sword for Mother Nature", a favorite is "For Love of Wildness"
He was a State Wildlife Officer and became a Federal Wildlife Officer so each chapter stands alone with tales of the people he encountered from California and then the Central flyway and on to Asia.

We Die Alone" Norwegian commandos in 1943 is a good short book.

Rocky Raab's books, "Baggy Zero Four" and "Mike Five Eight: Air War Over Cambodia". Both are good but best together!

If the weathers crappy,

Laugh.

Pick up a couple Pat McManus.

Thinner books, so grab several.

I hate reading and books are not my long suit by any means. Aside from all the suggestions so far, no one should end up dead before he reads “Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain.

Everything else is just words on a page.

I like guns, history, adventure, , prehistoric man, mountain men, Native Americans, and the glory days of big game hunting in North America..specifically the north country. I like upland hunting, trapping and buckskinning.

I desperately need recommendations on a couple of really really awesome books. Thanks!!!

With that in mind, there are some great books on this list that probably are not for you.

Since you're not a big reader, don't go with anything that takes a while to develop then comes together at the end. Red Storm Rising, for example, is a great book, but slow to come together.

Definitely skip Atlas Shrugged. Classic, but not a book for those that don't read.

Death in the Long Grass by Capstick is a better choice because each chapter stands alone. You can pick it up and put it down.

Adventure is My Business by Russell Annabel is a great read about hunting and fishing in Alaska. Even Hemingway loved it. Or maybe Tales of a Big Game Guide by Annabel. Stays with the Alaska theme.

Back on the Africa theme, The Horn of the Hunter by Robert Ruark is my favorite, but since you are a bird guy, try his Old Man and the Boy and The Old Man's boy Grows Older. Each chapter stands as its own story, and great reading. A collection of Ruark's magazine stories form the 1950's. They are available as one volume in paperback

Have a great hunt!

Lots of great suggestions. I will add a few more.

The walking drum by L'Amour and The Virginian by Owen Whister.

Since you've spent your whole life as a retard that doesn't read, I suggest The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

One of my favorite hunting books is the The Green Hills of Africa.

I think he’s probably talking about the John Ross written one. It’s a fictional book of gun grabbers I believe.

At least that’s what a quick search said.

Based on your expressed interests OP, I think you would really enjoy The Big Sky by A.B. Guthrie, Jr. In recommending one novel to anybody I always recommend The Count of Monte Cristo which I consider the greatest novel ever written. I also highly recommend anything written by Thomas Sowell if you are looking for non-fiction and informative.
