I picked up a great condition 1963 Sako L579 Forester Deluxe in 308 for a great price. Found some deluxe original Sako rings from that era and I had a 4x Khales scope from the 60s that my dad bought, in the 60s. Put it all together along with some range pickup 308, mixed head stamp brass, used up some pulled Norma powder I've had in a jug for 5+ years, used some pulled primers too, mixed cci200 and 210s and then I put in some pulled 180gr win power points I had left over from breaking down some 300 win mag ammo a few years ago.
Two shots, where I want to be, first group under and inch. Shot a second, right at an inch. Icing on the cake? It shoots the 130gr ttsx load I have made up for my wife's 308 Weatherby, under an inch. And fired cases from both the Sako and Weatherby fit interchangeably in both rifles. I loaded up 60 rounds of the 130gr ttsx load and the Sako will go hunting this Fall, along with my wife's Weatherby.
Pretty happy!

Pretty happy! Sounds like a real beauty. Any pictures to share?

Sounds great! IMO those older Sako rifles are the finest production rifles ever made.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

How does one pull primers? I presume "very carefully" but really don't know the process.

I have "pulled" primers often, the process requires a bit of care though. It involves nothing more than pushing them out of the case very carefully - do not push the press handle down quickly and forcefully, just a gentle and slow push on the primer and they pop right out. I have never had one go off doing it this way.
I have tested "pulled" primers against ones that have not been "pulled" and I could not see any difference in accuracy results. Mind you that I was using rifles capable of 1/2" - 3/4" groups, if I was after benchrest accuracy I would use new ones, but for hunting and general shooting purposes they work just fine.
CAUTION - Wear safety glasses.

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

Perhaps "deprimed" would be more accurate but I use a 243 win collet neck sizing die with the mandrel removed. Lots of ways to do it though, same process as depriming fired primers.
