Lost my big tellow lab yesterday after a few months of him slowly going downhill. My wife and I had gone out of state to wind up our downsizing at the new house and had left him at home in the care of a friend when we got a call to head back ASAP as was having difficulty breathing. 15 years of love and devotion towards everyone he came in contact with. Sit, come, stay, roll over or chase the ball ? Nope none of that for him as he was just a big baby that loved hanging out with mom and dad.   He came into our lives as a scared little puppy from a kennel and from that point on never left my side. I'm gonna miss our long walks so damn much it hurts. I feel for you man.
All of us who love dogs know what you are going thru.
Dogs are family.
Loyal, Smart, Protective, and in tune with their humans.
2 species that evolved together going back eons.
Sorry about you losing Max.

Condolences to you and your wife... sorry for the loss of your buddy Max.... pic lets me know he was a beautiful animal.
I wished dogs lived a lot longer than they do....they are more deserving than many people in today's world.
A dog like Max is not only a friend, but a blessing...

UH Huh....know what ya mean and feel. I lost more than I care to count.
I actually remember my first dog, long before starting 1st grade.
"Rover" lol, was a black/tan G shepherd. Mom and Dad could NOT spake me 'outside'
GROWL -- TEETH !!
They had to take me INSIDE for corrective administration. L O L
I still remember 65+ yrs. ago.

I believe you're right on that as whenever possible we would have a friend take care of him while we're gone for a few days or longer. Always seemed to take a toll on him mentally until we were back home for a day or two.

I truly feel your pain. We lost our yellow Lab girl in August last year and my 14 yo black Lab in May. Both were constant companions and I’m still grieving their departure. I worry about a new one outliving me now….
