They are great.
I just got back from hunting elk using a cross bow. I have one on each side of my pack so I can carry on either side. Crossbows are awkward compared to a rifle. Hiking steep hills at 10K ft and it never slipped off either shoulder.

Was the guy having some kind of fit in the video...I was expecting him to fall out.

Buy a good sling like a Vero Velini sling and you don't have to worry about your gun slipping off your shoulder.

You made me one with OSU on it. I need a couple more when you are making them.

Agree, I need to move mine up, it sometimes gets in the way where it is.

Im thinking about trying one. I went the kifaru universal gun bearer route a few years ago and Im not making the transition to that from a sling all that well. Thinking about going back to slings.

Back in 2018 I put one on my Camelbak for our last safari. Worked fine and I wouldn't have enjoyed the trip (post heart surgery) without both water and rifle staying put.

I used mine in Colorado in 2018. I gave my Colorado buddy and his stepson Frankenstuds, too. They work as advertised.

Older thread, but that's alright.

I have a Frankenstud and it worked fine on my older Elberleestock pack, but the straps on my main Kifaru pack just won't allow it to fit right, and I don't want it clean through the padded part of the shoulder strap. I've pretty much moved away from using slings anyhow. I don't like the rifle weight on my shoulder and they're always getting tangled up in random stuff and my rifle is normally either strapped to my pack or when I want to keep it more readily available, I have another holder system that I use for slingless rifles.

I do still use slings sometimes though, and the Frankenstud does work for sure when the pack allows it to.

I found another use for them over the last week. No pictures, but it works to hold an elk bugle on your shoulder too.

Tied a loop in the string and slipped it over the frankenstud. Could run the tube without ever taking it off.

Called in 6 bulls with the setup.

And no, I do not dance, but it stayed in place going through all the blowdowns.
