The first sitcom. Simple same set for each episode, stable cast of characters. Gleason made it art.

I don't think most people alive today realize the Honeymooners was only one season long.
I didn't know or I forgot and was reminded when I watched an old Johnny Carson Episode with Gleason on Pluto TV.
"Maybe we're all happy."
"Go to the sporting goods store. From the files, obtain form 4473. These will contain descriptions of weapons and lists of private ownership."

Loved his stuff and respect the man having heard some stories about his kindness to others.
He had an orchestra as well- that late 40's to 60's low key orchestra sound, If you haven't checked it out it may surprise you.
I thought it so boring as a kid now love listening to it at times. Calming.
As for honeymooners great live stuff with honest laughter. no laugh track. The episode where Ed ties a string to the doorknob to pull Ralph's tooth........classic.

Gleason was a republican.
The Honey Mooners was copied by the Flintstones..... especially the broken sink episode.

I saw a documentary once where supposedly President Nixon snuck out of the Whitehouse, picked up Gleason, and they drove to Wright-Patterson air base to view the aliens that crashed at Roswell.
No clue if it’s true or not but they made it sound convincing.

I heard Chuck D from Public Enemy say that Elvis, John Wayne and Jackie Gleason were racists.
