I’ll don’t be gettin all mathman over some tartar sauce
I have zero tartar sauce qualifications. Don't really care for the stuff.
We don't always agree.
But when we do we're 100% correct.
Maybe 110% in today's parlance.
Try some on those 79 seed Melba toasts you like so much.

Rallys/Checker’s deep sea double is a good econo-fish option at 2/$5. I make no guarantees that it contains any fish, though.
For real fish, the perchwich at the Sanford Bar & Grill has always been solid or the fish sandwich basket at the Huron Fish market in Saginaw is great.
Sullivans...
Haven’t been there in quite a while. Sounds like a take-out call is in order soon. Thanks for the tip.

I never was a tartar/tarter sauce person until last couple years. I was able to try it. School lunch lady version scarred me for 40 years. I always hated sweet pickles too, but will have a couple of home made ones with pinto beans and cornbread.
Don't think I've ever had a fish sandwich. Not even before the Johns Mannville plant closed. Arthur Treacher's used to have decent fish and chips.
And tartar sauce..........................what the heck is that stuff anyway, Miracle Whip with relish mixed in? Really, who can eat that stuff.
Never had one either. Beef or Chicken. If I eat fish, it’s some fried crappie. With French Fries. And Ketchup.

Tartar sauce is a variation of sauce Remoulade. Google. Capers, shallots and gherkins or cornichon pickles in an aioli (or Mayo, not miracle whip) spiked with herbs including dill and sometimes tarragon, or whatever, usually hit with lemon juice more so than cider vinegar or any vinegar.
and horseradish.

If you're talking yellow perch that would likely be a fantastic sandwich.
As long as one can order it without tartar sauce or Miracle Whip. Maybe even without mayo if they use that.

local tavern used to make the best fish and onion rings around. then they sold out to some big titted yuppy woman and went all sports bar and now serve friggen salmon and other such nonsense. fortunately i knew the cook and got the recipes for both fish and rings.
so to answer your question slum, that would be me.

I won’t fight you on that, but where I hail from, the horseradish is usually saved for Tartar sauce’s ubiquitous companion sauce - “Cocktail”.
