Scout 3 or 4 good stand locations. Hunt these stands according to when the wind is favorable. Sit all day, or as long as you can. Keep motion to a bare minimum. Know your weapon, and target practice with it frequently.

I'm NO expert on anything but I've been hunting WT since 1972 - (I'm 71 yo) so that's 49 seasons, last year.
BESIDE - knowing your rifle/gun & ammo and proficiency with it or them.
FIND the Does...... the Bucks WILL come.
You can scout buck sign, rubs, scrapes & trails BUT when the Rut kicks in they are ON THE MOVE finding Does!!!

Make it a habit to regularly wash and scent sterilize majority of your gear and clothing . It does make a difference . There’s no more important skill than being accurate on your first shot. That is the difference in filling your tag or not most of the time

You can beat a whitetails eyes but not their nose!
If you’ve scouted and practiced with your rifle but sit up wind of where the deer are going to be…. They will never show up!
Good luck

Get in the woods as much as you can. Can’t kill ‘em off your couch.

You’ll start shooting big deer when you quit shooting little deer.
Young deer quit growing when you shoot them.

Read a book like The Deer of North America by Len Lee Rue. Buy some good binoculars and go glass. Learn about all things deer habitat and forage. Don’t let deer know they are being hunted.

Don’t forget your damn bullets Hahah, I did that last year, kind of. Got to Missouri deer camp and though I had my range bag with hundreds of rounds of various ammo, it took me half the night crawling around my truck and digging under the seats to find 4 .243 rounds for the rifle I brought.

Me and my son manage to get halfway to the place we were gonna hunt before we realized we forgot our bow bullets. A bow ain’t no good without arrows. That will not happen again!!!

Get into your position an hour before shooting. Try not to walk through bedding areas. Dont make sudden or fast moves while sitting. Wind always at your face. I look for food, cover, and water. I tend to sit on ground with tree at my back along a travel corridor or corn field with tree rows. Best times morning and evening. Opening day is your best bet, stay in field while others go to lunch, it can payoff!
