Pretty common. They just start buckin' sometimes...  I've seen many people dumped like that. Lots of barrel racers... Usually one of those wrecks happens during a parade on asphalt too.

[img] What's the story behind this pic? Just the obvious or something else? New horse she was working on. Had a tendency to get a bit rowdy. She had been pitched already a week or so earlier and had her shooting arm in a brace, so she was basicly riding and shooting one handed/ with a limited range of motion. She apparently said some un-lady like words for an 18 year old  directed at her horse, got back on and rode her horse down.

She learned early. When you get hurt, if you are able, you get back on and you suck it up and ride. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/gPPPdMu.jpg) In this pic, I had explained to her on the way to that show that lots of times when I was rodeoing I would get injured, and that getting injured is just part of the sport. Well a short time later, she came in way too hot on a horse that was much to powerful for her. The horse stopped fast and she went flying right into some metal panels. We iced her up, switched her saddle onto another horse and she ended up being the top kid at the shoot in spite of the fact that she couldn't really walk. We didn't tell her mom about the wreck until well after the shoot was over.  Rural western life.

Not a horse person, not a cattle person, not a rodeo person.....but, if I knew of a one of these shooting competitions near me, I'd go in a heartbeat! Y'all are raising those young'uns right!
