Taiwan is a tough nut for China to crack. I don’t think the Communist have the capacity to get across the the straits currently. The CCP could certainly wreck Taiwan but successfully invading is too much for the current communist China’s military. It takes total control of the airspace above the invasion force in modern times for the invasion to succeed. I don’t think the communist have the capability to protect an invasion force or even the transport capacity. Then there’s the very likely possibility that Taiwan is already nuclear armed. A couple of nukes into the invasion fleet and that’s the end of the invasion. Exactly what I was thinking - seed the Straights with some nuclear ship mines. One ship hit just one and ships in a 5 mile radius disappear.

This is just a show of power because China is quickly running out of energy sources and the their financial system will probably collapse by the end of October, China will be perceived as vulnerable and weak and plus they need to show their worried growing middle class nationalist populace that they aree still powerful and they won't lose face, There will be more bluffing but Chinas has very serious upcoming domestic they must deal with. The Chinese created Covid was a good 18 month distraction, now they have to deal with reality. I would be surprised if they unleashed more pathogens into the world to level the playing field. God knows the communist Biden/Obama administration is on their side

Laffin.....Just what is Australia supposed to do about it? Materials and funding you clown...plus we come with attachments. Explain the attachments, please. If you understand history Australia was a vital partner in the Pacific part of WWII. At one time almost everything we staged was from Australia to fight the Japs.

If Japan gets into it.... America gets into it. If Japan gets into it they wont need us. The only thing that kept Japan from taking China in WWII was us.

China is stronger now and could beat Japan, the question is whether it would be worth it. It would be like if you got started a fight against a little guy and you beat him bloody and won the fight but ended up with a concussion, bloody nose and broken ribs.

Anything they "ramped up" before 10 years ago is probably obsolete, or at least obsolescent. Ramping up?The west handed them manufacture, services, half of our industries so we could make cheap products and buy our fat kids 3 playstations and two phones each. All China did was accept business contracts. I am no particular fan of them personally, they are technically the enemy of my former army. But any problems the west has with Chine we created ourselves. They beat us at our own game, and now we are sabre rattling to try and get our industries back

Anything they "ramped up" before 10 years ago is probably obsolete, or at least obsolescent. True, but there would be lessons learned and upgrades along the way. Missiles develop longer ranges as a result of fiddling around in that headspace for a while.

1. 8mm Mauser was referring to "ramping up" in the military sense and I was replying in kind.
2. I don't really think we're the ones doing the "sabre rattling". It the PRC that has upped the volume on the whole SCS and Taiwan issue.

We’re so screwed with Biden in charge. The Chinese own that pos and know damn well he won’t do anything to stop them. Taiwan has no ability to resist a determined China. The Chinese can take 20x the losses and not rue the exchange.
