My go-to has been Eddie Bauer, catch them on one of their sales (black friday, Labor Day, Memorial day), and you can get very good flannel shirts for about $35. I have some that are close to a decade old and still in fighting shape. Land's End has good stuff, but their catalog and web site is so poorly designed it's hard to figure out what thickness of flannel and what cut you are buying. I ended up with a couple of shirts that are made for Bubba's bellly, and me, combined. Sic Semper Tyrannis

I tend to be pretty hard on my flannels as once I get a comfortable shirt I tend to wear it while working, playing, etc... until it is shot. I got a few at BiMart and Costco and they are much cheaper and very comfortable and seem to last about the same amount of time as the more expensive ones. Never underestimate your ability to overestimate your ability.
