But, in all seriousness, smart people learn from their mistakes. Really smart people learn from other people's mistakes.

There are a lotta people on here who have done what I'm thinking about, and I can assess the responses by their history here.

It's almost like research.....

I’m just asking about this you posted. What’s not mascara?

IMO, cerakote is a cosmetic finish, mascara for men,

Coat it if you want, but that won't make the rifle a weatherproof, no maintenance weapon.

Birdsong can at least coat the majority of the parts including the firing pins , bolts and such, but even that can scratch and chip.

Sandbilly welcome to world of Kenneth logic..... he is a plumber after all.... lmao

Those that claim cerakote isn't durable never had a rifle that was properly cerakoted. The stuff is tough.

Thanks, but this is something that will probably be easier to just have someone do.

I've got enough stuff to do without learning how to do this without screwing it up. 😉

No you don't use it inside the barrel, which is why I won't/wouldn't call it a rust protection product.
You still have to maintain the weapon to prevent rust....
Thanks for playing along.

A patch with oil will take care of the bore for the duration of a hunt, especially if you tape the muzzle. The Cerakote with protect the external metal with no maintenance ..... ever
Experience matters.... you have displayed none

Sheesh, hold into the failure.

For a Dimension, I’d paint it, maybe with a brush. You wanted someone to give you schitt about having a Dimension; there you go 😛

There are some bake-on sprays like GunKote, that are pretty tough.

If actually paying someone to do a pro job, nitride all day and all night. Gets the inside of the barrel too. I have two factory Cerakoted guns that look good, a Howa Alpine and a CZ O/U, but I have no illusions about the durability of the coating. Also have two that are factory nitrided, a CZ 457 and a Knight ML that’s nitrided SS. Looks like nice matte bluing, and tougher than anything else AFIK.

rene is right about Bubba, for anything. Pay for good work, DIY, or save your money.

What fresh Hell is this?
