The point and reason why is obvious --- too many places hiring with better pay and benefits nowadays to work at some low paying no or few benefits fast food restaurant / convenience store, known to be high risk for armed hold ups, especially those located where there's quick and easy access to major highways.

that would be one point......I also think the fast food places prefer just the drive up ...look at how much labor is saved...labor = money....less cleaning supplies = money etc .....where I am at there is to many businesses for the available labor market .

just not enough workers to go around......not always about people not wanting to work......bob

We used to go out to White Sands Missile Range for training. My platoon sergeant had a milk crate with a hole in it. Go out behind a mesquite bush, dig a hole, put the milk crate over it, do your business, and cover it all up. Well, it didn’t take the coyotes long to find the holes and dig it up. After three or four days, the coyotes could barely even contain themselves. You would be doing your business and a coyote would be sitting about fifty yards away just looking at you and waiting for you to finish. There wasn’t even much need to cover it up.

If that’s the case what happened to all the people who filled all these jobs before the pandemic?

I'm too old to sh't in my pants. I'll do my best to hide, but if I gotta do it on the court house steps, I'll just take my chances with the judge.

There are probably at least a dozen businesses in Kenai/Soldotna- not a large pop center - with help wanted signs. And we are going into slow-mode....PO is advertising that $25/hr jobs are available to lose your mail.
