At our Lutheran church we celebrate Reformation Day. It's also on October 31st. We always include the hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God".
It's not my cup of tea as such, but if society wants to dress up in costumes and party for the night, it is their right to do so.

According to Philip Melanchthon, 31 October 1517 was the day German monk Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses on the door of the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg, Electorate of Saxony in the Holy Roman Empire. Historians and other experts on the subject argue that Luther may have chosen All Hallows' Eve on purpose to get the attention of common people, although that has never been proven. Sounds as good as any of the others.
