If nothing else, that whole deal should show you the value of a good sling.

How did he manage to defend himself with anything less than a top tier gun?
His friend must have thought his life wasn't worth much!

I think it was topped with a sightmark.
You should be able to search the web and find it at ARFcom.

Boots, boots made the difference 😂 Absolutely! Competitive shooters that use the kneeling position have use square toe shoes to stabilize that foot. Thinking they also used sell a cap that could be attached to the shoe. Tactical Ariats? But seriously, the sling........ Huge lesson there. He got knocked down to the pavement, drop kicked, & hit in the back of the head with an object. I don't think his right hand ever lost grip on the rifle. But if it had, his sling would have kept it in a reasonable position to be easily regripped.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what ammunition he was using. I know it was FMJ but what kind?

Yeah I think the FMJ gets a bad rap around here. It’s nothing to scuff at, ask DD.
I have a drum loaded with it.

I shoot a lot of M193 and if impact velocity is sufficient and if it hits just right it can break apart creating a nasty wound. Notice a lot of if’s there?
There’s just better choices available with fewer if’s.

Ruger AR556, cause his Colt 6920 was out for repair.
30% of the Rugers that have come through our classes have has significant issues. I have more than one 6920. Not a single one of them has ever burped. Not one single time. The Ruger did the job that night.

If nothing else, that whole deal should show you the value of a good sling. That's the truth.
