I assume that plate steel on the top is additional to the original stove... seems like a really smart idea for extra heat transfer... Had a stove going all day. Neighbors were here for supper and Euchre games, stove burned down to coals. Need to load it up and go to bed. A fine sight! I've been burning in an open fireplace the last couple weeks, so don't qualify for yes to the OP's question.
