Myself and a bunch of MP's at Ft. Sam Houston used to get off shift at 11:30 at night and we'd always be hungry when we got off. I had a car so I would drive at least one of the brothers with me to a Church's fried chicken out the south gate on New Braunfels road and go about 2 miles to Nevada street and a couple of more blocks east and there was a Churches. We always walked in with one of the brothers and we never go hassled. Typically we were still wearing a uniform of some type (class b khaki's with no MP brassard) We were never refused service but we were regular customers and we always bought a lot of chicken. This was 1973 and 1974 by the way. It was a great time to be in San Antonio. It's my understanding that Nevada St. is now MLK Blvd.

Any of you guys do the turkey fryer thing? I've heard good things but never tried one. They aint bad, been hot smoking mine around 300-325 though on the bge with the creole injector and seasoning on the skin. Can get a crispy skin without having to fry. Gotta be a little healther anyway. Tastes better to me done this way.
