Bobcats are predators but not in the same class as coyotes they won’t eat your dog or your kitty cat but they do prey on fawns

Well one of the neighbors has lost pets to coyotes and bobcats both. Ive seen it. Seen one stalking a deer scent wick one year. Can't speak for other regions, bobcats around here eat whatever they can catch. I've seen it, neighbors have seen it. Everybody on the county road isn't stupid or delusional.

No. I hate turkeys. Overrun with them. Kittys were disappearing, now making a comeback. Good. No, great.
Coyotes, OTOH, are 24/7/365 for us.

I’ve killed one bobcat and I’ll never kill another one. I enjoy watching them.
Coyotes are shoot on sight regardless of whatever else I’m hunting.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

Well in SD you have to also have a trapping license to take a bob. So they get a pass but neat to watch. Mb

Several years ago I watched a large bobcat stalk a skipper in tall swamp grass. The skipper got away but it was close. No doubt they take a few every year.

Probably not. They’re around, but the only one I’ve ever seen was while working, beside the road at night. It’s illegal to shoot anything but deer and bear and coyotes for the first three days of the firearms season here too.
I’m at peace with the foxes too. They’re so dumb it’s almost a shame to shoot the smelly little buggers.
What fresh Hell is this?

Yes, they're bad on turkeys. They can take a deer, too.

I have seen 3 bobcats sitting on deer stands this year. All were during Muzzleloader season. My son heard one catch a squirrel yesterday. I won't mess up a deer hunt shooting things other than deer. But I am tagged out on deer now and plan to do a little varmint calling.

My grandson has a video of one out of my box blind that walked out right below him….looks to be pushing 40 lbs… biggest I have seen here. Looks up at camera couple times, has beautiful coat real long. Deer out in field pays him no attention….this just happened Saturday so hopefully he hangs around till end of deer season so I can use Foxpro call on him see if can draw him in for a video…do not plan to shoot.

To each their own, but generally speaking, I do not kill what I do not plan to eat. I feel the same way. In addition when I am deer hunting thats all I will shoot. Killing a varmint could cause that buck to go the other way

Last year I was hunting a stand that overlooks two food plots in really thick 6-8 year old cutover. There’s a circular field in front with its far edge about 175 yards away and another long field to the left at 10:00 extending out to almost 300 yards. Close to sunset I’d been watching two does and their fawns for a while on the left field about 225 yards away and a bobcat popped out on the far side of the field to my front.
I debated shooting it with it being pretty close to the magic time but decided to shoot him. I was shooting a 7 mag and nailed him. I looked to the left field and none of the four deer even looked up. I figured I’d just wait and leave at the end of legal shooting hours. No more than 10 -15 minutes after the shot a little six point popped out of the front field maybe 15-20 yards from the dead cat. The buck looked over at it, did the little head bob like “what’s wrong with you dude? and “it must suck to be you!” 😊 After a few seconds of that the buck eased out into the field and started feeding.
Lesson learned. Don’t worry too much about shooting a bobcat unless it’s right at the end of legal hours.

One of the properties I have access to if I don't drop the hammer and the farmer finds out I'd get an invitation to not come back. Otherwise would be a situation call but likely shoot, I'd like to have bobcat skull on the reloading bench.

I also am in the same camp of if I am not going to eat it I don’t shoot it. They are pretty rare in my neck of the woods and I can honestly say I have never come across one of their kill sites so they get a pass from me.

Last week. My buddy that owns the place says shoot them. And a small buck showed up less than 5 minutes after the shot.

In my area there is an over abundance of both deer and turkeys. Both do significant crop damage. Coyotes and bobcats get a pass during the deer season from me.
