Meh...it’s possible for someone to fat finger a single action and have his thumb slip off the hammer while he is cocking. It is the kind of thing that a pure novice with one might do. But if anything, it makes him sound more negligent because there is absolutely no way for that revolver to fire without at least consciously cocking it. He should probably shut up.

I actually saw a guy posit this weeks if not a month or two ago somewhere. Apparently Baldwin was set in a cross draw configuration. This guy posited that when Baldwin drew, he swept the victims as he was thumbing the hammer and his thumb fell off and it discharged. It’s pretty easy to do if you’re not careful, experienced, and/or maybe have fat fingers. Put a little too much pressure on that trigger with the finger joint and you are essentially fanning the revolver. It would be the exact same thing that happened to the guy in the river scene on The Searchers.

To the ignorant and arrogant like Baldwin the gun would have just “gone off” without him consciously pulling the trigger.

That whole incident is a stinky turd. He just trying to paint himself as victim to deflect some of damming civil suits that are coming his way like a tsunami. Baldwin is now trying to polish that turd and put some shine on it . But in the end it is still just a stinky turd of an incident and a turd like victim crying about it. Any normal grounded person living in reality would be guilt ridden and crushed by that magnitude of a accident. Not a Baldwin who is now trying to save his good name and reputation.

If this defense works for him, every banger in the country will use it next time they shoot someone.

Well, it is New Mexico, which is about as Dim controlled as it gets. Has there been an indication of any charge from the New Mexico legal system? Seems to be crickets from them.
