I was reading a recipe for lemon pepper wings (the sons request) Anyway, first I’ve ever heard this. It linked me to an article from the all-knowing CDC which I would have to disable my Adblock so I didn’t read it. . Don’t wash your chicken first Although many people disagree with me, there is a lot of evidence that shows you not only don’t need to wash your chicken wings first, but it could cause more harm than good. There are many articles written on the topic, so head to Google if you’re interested in learning more.

I grew up in the South. We washed everything before we cooked it! My dad used to say "That hot Crisco will take care of any bugs", ha. I'm still here! I will say that I "have" had food poisoning from fowl that "others" have cooked, i.e Olive Garden Garlic chicken put me and my wife on the floor one weekend. A turkey sandwich from 7/11 sent me to ER once. So, I am cautious about birds, ha.

Raw chicken whether it's washed, unwashed, rolled around the bathroom floor of an abandoned bus stop, can kill you. I've never washed mine before cooking thoroughly.

No.
Also, we never wear gloves while handling raw meat.
Its almost mandatory on video recipes.

I never have, if there's something on it there's also something in it. Cook it to 165 and call it good.

The CDC is referring to exposing people to salmonella by washing poultry in the sink. More crap for the man-buns to worry about.

If the chicken is contaminated with Salmonella, washing it can actually spread the bacteria rather than reducing it. Proper cooking kill it so the best is to just observe safe handling procedures and avoid spreading raw meat around the kitchen as much as possible.

Enough soap from washing things in the sink should wash away salmonella. Also, washing your hands before eating.

Washing it just spreads more germs and bacteria in your sink and kitchen. But there are people (Karen’s) that will argue till blue in the face. Some just do as their parents always did with no rhyme or reason as to why.

Wasn't it the CDC that promoted changing from wood to plastic cutting boards..........

Wife and I were discussing this last night. I have killed 30 some elk and just as many or more deer that I have cut and wrapped on the kitchen table. I have a cast iron set that hasn't been washed since Reagan had a job.....never been sick, no plan on changing.
We make our own sausage and burger, eat steaks at rare and chicken needs to be tender.
I have always said that if there's a bug out there that dies from dawn dish soap but can live through 200 plus degree cast iron......we're all gonna be in trouble.
No we dont wash chicken...or steak.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.
