Another year come and gone so sign in please so we can see who is still around. Lost a good friend this year, John Wright (CMHJohn). I bought next to nothing Savage in 2019 and 2020. Made up for it in 2021. Ordered a new car in July (nothing on the lot). We pick it up this coming Monday. They can't build cars/trucks because of a chip shortage! I'm tired of Covid but I think it is going to be around for a while longer. So far the wife and I have not had it. Enough of my year end rambling. Lets hear from you. Oh, and.... HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Happy New Year Rick,
I've been around since the old gun and knife board....God how old are we. Took a couple year hiatus when the fire went through a stretch of folks that had to bad mouth everything and everyone. I still lurk and try to help out when I can.
Picked up a Savage 23B and a 23A this year. A couple 99s and finally procured a 250 savage with a stith and a weaver K3 on it with fine crosshairs and dot reticle. Picked up a 1907 and 1917 both in 32 acp, then I got hit with Corona for a 2nd time and almost lost the battle. Working on mending still and just happy to be around.
Happy New Years fellas

Happy New Year Everyone
Here’s the report for the year, as I listen to some kids setting off firecrackers.
I’ve gone from zero to two 1899’s. Discovered the first one in my late father’s gun safe - I never knew Dad had this gun (and a few others as well). Using Rory’s book, this appears to have been built in 1902. 30-30. Full length octagonal barrel. Straight stock (not a pistol grip). Curved metal butt plate.
Attended the Tulsa Wannemacher show in November and got to meet a few of the regulars in this forum (thank goodness Joe was wearing clothes). Also picked up my second 1899. 250 Savage. Takedown. As I recall, it was built in the late teens (1916?). Barrel chopped to about 19”. Wearing a Weaver K4 in a Stith mount. Pistol grip. A shooter, not a collection piece. Rick and Rory helped me to evaluate the gun and validate the price. Much thanks.
Finding this campfire Savage forum has been great. Entertaining and informative. The education has been tremendous. Thank you for your contributions and sharing your expertise.
Watching eBay, the classifieds here and a couple of Texas classifieds, I have been able to outfit myself for reloading. Bonanza Co-ax press, Dillon manual scale, Belding & Mull powder measure, Lyman vibrating tumbler, Hornady ultrasonic, six sets of dies, brass, and bullets. Picked up a RCBS hand primer and copy of Ken Waters Pet Loads this morning.
Two weeks ago, I scored a nice deal on 10,000 primers and a 8-lb jug of powder. Feel extremely fortunate.
Trying to start the new year right. Will be driving to Bastrop TX tomorrow to pick up a Weaver K4 that will sit on Dad’s Rem 760 chambered in 308 Win. Currently wearing a crappy Bushnell Banner scope that I believe Dad bought in the early 70’s for about $25. I may have the K4 serviced or reconditioned by Ironsight.
Blessed to still have my mom - she will be 92 in March. Just learned that my daughter will have her firstborn this coming July. Planning to spend some time in California with my 2-yo grandson.
Now, if I can just find some ammo for my 250 ….
Here’s to a happy, healthy, blessed and safe 2022.

Yep
Only bought one 99 this now past year of 21. Got the covid in early November. Had all my shots so was able to shake it off like a bee sting.
Going to be moving farther south in VA in the next few months. Things being what they are I'm going to sell (purge) some stuff.
Have sold 2 on GB so far. Both brought stupid prices which is making a lot of my other guns really nervous.
Changing jobs, am going to try and make it to Pa in August of 22

Still here.
Sold a few 99's recently and am at a net loss in numbers for the year but satisfaction is higher with acquisition of some good firearms other than Savages. I don't think I'm much of a collector, more a shooter.

Still here. 20 years flys by :-)
Happy New Year to all fellow 99 fans!
Chasing down (1/2 the fun) a barrel band 99 in 250-3000 as of late. I don’t own one yet, but hopefully soon. Not pristine, but fine for a hunter. -Tom T

Like Nash22 I don't contribute much.......don't really know much. I do enjoy stopping by to read the current goings on. Have not bought a Savage for some time. Happy with the few I have.

To the chagrin of many, I'm still hanging on.
