I'm all about debt free, don't get me wrong, but not having a credit card?
How did you function as a gunsmith? Buying parts online you made your customers wait until your snail mail check arrived and cleared with your vendors?
Plus, I put a ton on the credit card, my purchases are protected, and I get cash back. Just don't carry a balance and you don't pay interest.
I always worked for someone else so never had to worry about it.. Much of that was before home computers were even a thing.. We were poor growing up. My dad taught me to be frugal and practical and it stuck. I've never been prone to extravagance or gave a shyt about keeping up with the Jones's so extra money was put away while others pissed it away on extravagant homes, toys, vehicles, vacations, dining out, etc. etc..

We have at least 2 generations that haven't had to endure hardship and have been trained to consume. Previous generations endured WW1, the great depression and WW2. They became "risk adverse" and understood saving for a rainy day. The also understood the consequences of their actions. Subsequent generations learned to blame their hardship on someone else and became the "entitlement" generations.

Curious what the average broke guy pays for TV. and phone and internet. I'd bet it adds up. My guess, is it is about the same, if not more than, what well off people pay. Arizona got "sportsbook" now. WETH that is. I think it's legalized gambling you can do from your phone. There must be a lot of money in broke people. Fire up their app on my phone, reserve a room and exchange the points 30-50 miles before the exit, badda bing. Hardly ever pay for rooms. Points/cash back on card covers the room. We travel all the time. My old man, we got him set up, he gives us his hotel room points. Build em up, stay 7-10 days gone. Traveled all over the “out west” as the douchees call it. Never spent out of pocket for a room. Been doing that for several years
